What do you say is this a whitetail or only partially. I have seen Grackles with white on them before, but never in my yard.

I have sunflower seed feeder in the shepherds hook you can see. That would be considered hunting over bait and that is not a good idea with migratory birds. I am sure the grackle hatched here by the house. It is a pretty young bird.

He is pretty safe here at the house. A lot of things get a buffer no shoot zone. I enjoy watching all sorts of wildlife. I even let the fox squirrels at at the sunflower feeder. I just call it a squirrel feeder. It is fun to watch them try to climb the 1/2 in steel rod when it is covered in frost. They never make it to the feeder.
