These two (my sons) will be divvying up our equipment for sure.

They have certainly grown up doing this from VERY early on. Love trapping with my boys. I guarantee they will keep it going.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

No one else in my family traps and that includes nepews, cousins etc. Have not fully decided how to distrubute the trapping inventory when I am no longer able or desiring to trap. Several years ago I thought about donating them to TE classes for students. I don't know if I will do that now as we see a huge percentage of those taking TE that do not ever even start to trap. It is good they take the class to understand another aspect of wildlife management but I don't see value in giving equipment away that will hang on hooks like the multi millions of traps doing that right now all across our nation. Donating to our WTA to auction will help the organization and those traps may be bought by someone who will use them.

My son will inherit trapping gear, guns, and my vintage woodworking tool collection. He will likely sell off a good portion of each, especially the tools. I hope he makes a ton of money off them.

My trapping partner is 15 years my junior. He’ll get them all.

LOL, well, in order to catch that elusive digging coyote, the chicken fat is the bomb, and I bet you 'll only do it once...once is enough, grin

I have already started this process .Over my years of trapping I bought out former trappers complete inventory for some pretty good deals .At one time I had several hundred traps that I did not use from year to year .plus about another 200 that where used yearly or sometimes on an as need basis I sorted through some of it years ago I and picked out items that I knew I would likely never use Than I took it to the PA District 8 Fall get together in Newville PA They have an auction and a percent of each sale goes to the District After the commission was deducted I receiver a few hundred dollars It was more than I had paid to buy the stuff to start with .I am dealing with health issues and I have no choice but to cut back on my outdoor activities So I went though all my trapping stuff and this winter I sold traps and trapping related items to a couple people that I know that still trap. I sold over $600 in traps I had not used in the last 20 years I kept any traps that I thought I would still use if my health allows it . Most of my used traps are in good condition. I have a young friend that I have been helping to get started in trapping that only has a small number of traps .I have told him if he can hold off I would be willing to sell him my user traps at a fair price in the coming years . By clearing out all of the odds and ends I now have a more organized inventory of traps If/When I need to give it up I can more easily sell them . Along with the items kept to be able to put up pelts . And the burden will not be on my wife .For those that have kids or grandkids passing them on to them is the best way t go

Guess it’s something I haven’t thought about. I’m not planing on checking out anytime soon. Guess when the time gets closer I’ll decide then. Then again, if I’m checked out, I really won’t care.

I am not planning on checking out any time soon either ,But I had a good amount of traps and gear that I had not used for a long time or maybe ever .I figured if I had not used them when my health was better than now I was not likely to start using them at I time that I am forced to cut back .I don't like the thought of it but the reality of it is keeping things I am not using anymore is only taking up space .
