I saw a piece on the news about this. That sounds like they are managing a resource. No...FWC is managing people.....

I saw utube video of a guy that caught them for the state...he hunted at night with a spotlight out the pickup window. I'm sure the regulations are necessary or people would be out there shooting each other with stray bullets/pellets.

I talked to a florida guy at the NTA convention a few years ago that said they need to be at least 10 footers to be worth skinning, couple dollars a foot.

I’m not sure what their funding is, but, they might not be allowed to do a bounty on them. If RAWA passes maybe they will have funding to do a “bounty”. Idk, I say call them and ask, or attend their advisory council meetings and bring it up.

Why do they Allow anything but an all out Irradication
They are holding back for some reason wrecking Native species
Should be a constant reward for them dead and turned in.
My take on it Other than no constant reward. You need to be a contractor or part of the competition to get money. They encourage you to go catch them on private property (with permission) and all public land in southern Florida. Looks like only the national park is off limits. But they may allow it. No season, no limits, don’t need a license. Who is going to pay for all these bounties? You gonna chip in extra with PR funds?

I think eradicating the species would go as well as eradicating Coyotes, considering the habitat they live in, among gators.

Should be "Take anytime; shoot, catch, remove etc. Pretty much is. Don’t even need a license. Two different answers here. One says he got his "license" too late,,then others say no license needed to hunt invasives??

I know the Burmese python is a threat to the wetlands in Florida, but I don't think I could bring myself to kill one. I have had them as pets in the past and when I see one i think of Monty. He was with me for 5 years and slept in my bed and I took him to my bar with me on warm days. Ok he did not fetch balls and all that , but he was for me a source of relaxation just to have him around in a time of my life that was pretty stressful. He would coil up in the grass in front of my house, I would use him as a pillow and he would tuck his head under my chin and we could dose like that for quite a while if we did not get disturbed. I miss him

I miss him Reptiles can make good pets. There are many millions of pythons kept as pets in the US. Pet Burmese Pythons far out number the feral ones in Florida. I know people that have literal hundreds of the smaller Ball Pythons, with some of the collections having over 50 different colors in them. Around 5 million households in the US have pet reptiles. Around half my income comes from selling reptile food. Keith
