No 100 dollar bills at the bank. How is this possible?

They keep very little money on hand, at least the ones here has been my experience.

Example....30 years ago some friends and myself were heading west to hunt. We all went to the bank to get a couple grand apiece, but we ran them out of cash at 7k.

Once in the 70's, I was buying a vehicle and withdrew a couple of thousand in cash. I asked for 500 dollar bills which were still in limited circulation at the time and was told they would have to be ordered from a central bank somewhere and would take a few days. I got hundreds instead and they spent just fine.
I think Salmon P. Chase was on the last 500 bill. No shortage of hundreds here except the automatic teller only dispenses 50's.

Wife and I take money from our savings every year, and we have to call ahead if we take cash instead of transferring it to our checking acct.

They keep it buried in the back yard and don't want you to see where they dig it up !

Most money is just a digital number on a screen. What’s happening in China right now is proof.

Apparently you don't deal with JVB.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Most people using plastic now would be my guess. Mi wonder if the Bureau of Engraving has to print as many bills now?

Our local ATM gives out $50 bills.

That would be even worse. Just what you want to tote around, a thousand dollars in coin. lol

Buddy of mine went to a local bank where he has over 20K in savings. He asked for 5000 cash and was told he would have to come back the next day. Problem was CASH.

Nothing to do with that. The bank is only required to keep a certain percent of cash on hand.

Intersection where Rutters is now.

I've dealt with JVB since the Cook/Sieber days at Mifflintown.
