Have you guys seen these work? My buddy has one in Virginia he initially took off the cover and I thought so what......UNTIL......he split half dried chunks of white oak in front of me. Super fast and powerful flywheel powered without the hydraulic time involved.

What all didn't your friend show you? I have not seen a wood splitter like this in real life. Wonder how much it cost?

I have a super split, basically the same machine. Mine are made in Maine , Honda engine . They will make about 3 guys sweat if you want to . I think 2500 to 3000 is in the ballpark.I purchased mine used about 10 years ago, did a bit of maintenance , increased the width of the splitting table and runout table. There are super split videos . if you are interested. Now all I need is more ambition , to run it.

A friend has a super split, and 2 men can split a cord/hour. I break the super big wood with hyd splitter to manageable pieces but the machine makes firewood.

Back in the day a wood customer got me to drop off 12 cords of real nasty city wood. So on his sons 18th birthday they got to splitting the pile. At the end of the day they took him to the bar for a beer ( 18 is legal drinking age) To this day he cusses when he sees me......jelly legs extreme

inertia splitters are great for strait wood , when you get to really narrly crotches and really twisted grain or really huge pieces

then a hydraulic is a better choice

I’d never get my wood up that high! 30” rounds of green Doug fir are HEAVY.

But who cuts green doug fir for firewood??

I agree , that you have to be careful, splitting weird shaped blocks . When sawing the tree , Don't make a block that you wont be able to split. Cut them shorter or rip them with the chainsaw. as you block them. You have pay attention , to grain, when spitting , with a kinetic splitter, or they will kick out and it can hurt. . Anything straighter, they will split like butter. I also have a hydraulic splitter , that opens up the big rounds if needed.. old243

I do! Cut it, split it, let it dry and cure. I don’t have any dead trees on my place so I have to cut green early in the spring and let dry and cure over the summer. Would like to get a year ahead but five cord a year seems to be about my limit.
