I've been bowhinting for 45 years and have never been a real good shot.
I shoot almost all of my deer under 20 yards with most under 15.

Been really working on my shooting this summer.
Just shot this 9 arrow group at 33 yards.
Maybe I'll feel more comfortable taking a "long shot" of 25 this year. Haha [Linked Image]

You a brave man or rich, lol. I’m no crack shot, I don’t shoot at the same spot twice. Arrows are expensive!!

Nice group though! Especially for shooting pass your comfort range.
I believe long range shooting improves your normal range shots.

In my experience, I didn't start to notice when my form was slipping until I got to 50 yards. 60 yards really showed me when I messed up a little. The further you practice the better your shots will be at normal hunting distances. I thought I was safe shooting at the same bull at 50 yards, until I Robin hooded one. I need to get a slider sight so I can step back a bit further.

Step it back to 40 yards and pay attention to your form while shooting. You will see when you cant the bow, grip it different, anchor different etcetera.

Keep it up, you are on your way.

You guys are lucky, I am jealous!! I am a righty and was deadly with the bow. I still do everything with my right hand but 25 years ago lost vision in my right eye. So I have been shooting lefty and have been some what successful but my left arm is just not doing it anymore. My Hoyte bow is 25 years old shoot great but not by me any more, I can not even pull it back and hold it with my left hand. Have to aim while pulling and let go instantly or else the are off the target. No more bow hunting for me, my left arm just is too weak. The bow is set at 45 pounds and 75 or % let off. Oh well more time to scout for trapping......jk

I used to work for a guy who was an absolute archery junky. We didn't like each other very much but we shared a love for archery and hunting. He was a good shot. One day while pounding spots targets he told me I had perfect form. It must have almost killed him to say that. I did have great form and it came from countless hours of shooting. Work on your form and put in the time.

Good shooting.... but I'm sure you have found out by now you'll ruin a lot of good arrows shooting that many at the same spot on the target. I shoot 1 at a time and then retrieve it if shooting at the exact center or shoot only 1 arrow at each spot on a target. I used to do multiple arrows but busted nocks or ruined fletching.

Nice shooting bucksnbears, I've been bow hunting for 31 years
2 years ago I shot a dear at 35 yards my longest shot ever
all my deer have been shot from 5 to 25 yards, I set my tree stands
up that way.

Don’t forget to do some open field lobbing. 45 degrees is a good start.

LOL! Some of my best groups have been after a 6 pack! Once I get close to the double digits I hang it up. 8" groups at 50 make me stop.

Been shooting longbow since the 60s and would not try to practice at that range. Over my ability
