Went fishing last night on a lake I have fished for years. Deep lake with lots of coves with standing timber, lots of huge boulders, and some really shallow areas where you don't expect them.

Was fishing a little monthly tourny a few of us fish as a fun way to spend a evening. This time the winner got 1600 bucks for the three largest fish of the night. I had three keepers, (16 inch on this lake) and had about 9 miles back to weigh in. Headed in at 10:15 PM. I never topped 20 MPH although I know the lake very well. Made it back on time and didn't put a scratch on my boat or myself.

You got a glass bottom in that boat ? I hear bass boats stick dang near straight up till you plane out at around 45.
You didnt mention make/model/HP, so may I assume canoe or row boat

So how do you stop a boat at 20mph or 45mph? Or can you? Does your boat have a braking system that other boats don’t have? Or do you just not know the lake like you think you do? I’d run faster than that in a 14ft jonboat with just the stars. If you’re scared just say your scared. It’s ok, some folks don’t like the dark and are afraid of it. I don’t think you’re a wuss, just think you don’t like the dark or believe in your abilities running a boat.

Did you read? I understand the meaning of the post. It’s in regards to Jbyrds post. But unless he idles 9 miles back, running 20 can still result in an accident.

Yes, you entered into the realm of wussydom. I think all tourney fisherpeoples share the same realm. They have brought about catch and release like a religion, tantamount to leasers of hunting ground.

No I didn't win. Placed third. It is a winner take all deal we fish.

No glass bottom boat either. My boat will plane out just fine at 20. It is a 17ft charger with a 150 black max merc. Older boat and motor. Gets me where I wanna go just fine.

Funny thing though. Some of the other fellas have 80K in their boats and I didn't see any of them running any faster than I was.

The lake does have a speed limit on it. But not enforced unless your doing something real stupid.
