Pulled 2x. Probably get one more pull. Just ordered a new extractor, so I'm excited.

I started pulling my honey just after the first of the month and finished up this past Wednesday. I have to work it in between the regular job so it typically takes me four weeks to pull if I extract it also. When I have it custom extracted I can squeeze it into a 2 week pulling event but the last three years I've extracted my own. When kept them for a living I'd try and get a goldenrod crop too but now my goal is to be wrapped up by the time it gets flowing which should be any day.

This afternoon I head out to help my buddies crew with pulling. I babysit a couple of loads of their bees over the summer and they want to get supers off and replaced for the goldenrod.

I had 7 hives to start the spring and lost 3, got 3 hives that I pulled honey from. Going to get it extracted to day and see what I get.

I can save you lots of time and money....dont bother with a flow hive, its ridicules.

I managed a few frames of fireweed honey. The rains shut us down this year as usual.

That’s the same as western Pa. I sell at $17 a quart, some are lower, some are at $20. No one above that…it would never sell. I saw 3 pound bottles at Rural King today for $9.99. Their 12 ounce bottles, $2.99. I know mine is better, but prices like those don’t help the smaller producers.

I took honey off on July 8th, 19 full shallows. I have 36 shallows out now, maybe 1/2 are full and capped already. Some good sunny weather the first few weeks of September, most of the supers should be full. I usually take supers off between 9/21 - 9/24.

Nice. I have that same extractor I believe. Three frame hand crank.

I have a Dadant six frame extractor…bought it 20+ years ago, hand crank. About 6-7 years ago, I decided to order the motor setup for it. I paid more for the motor upgrade than I did for the extractor new. The motor allows me to spin out frames while I’m uncapping. I believe I get a better yield from motorized extracting too. Working alone, I’ve done 24 supers in an eight hour day. The motor was a good investment
