I have noticed a definite uptick in the number of road killed mink I am seeing on the roads here in northern Ohio in the last couple weeks. Is anyone else seeing this where you are at?

Have seen more road kill mink and otter than ever here. Probably all the construction and the resulting destruction of habitat that taking place in this area, maybe?

The majority of fresh road killed mink I see are hit in the head. I have concluded that they must turn to attack at the last second.

I have not seen a mink - dead or alive - in at least five year. And I am in the woods or on the water every other day

No I haven't seen an uptick in roadkill mink but I always write down where I see one for future sets. Where one mink goes others will

I've seen a few this summer in spots where they would be expected. Most have been smaller ones, so I'm guessing females or yoy males

Dispersing for breeding season, early this year. Lot's of heat stressed trees looking dead this year.

My independent studies have shown that you have to make the mink quit using possums as crossing guards!
Also teaching them to hold hands and look both ways before crossing helps also.

Here to I have seen a lot more mink road kill the last 2-3 years. It correlates closely with the big uptick in rat numbers due to 3 very wet years. Not the case this year, lot of dry ditches, sloughs and lower water all around our area.
