What is up with this bs? Is this how they think is the best way to “calm” kids down?
What are they going to do in the real world?
They need parenting at home instead of their parents being their friend
This is pathetic

Play room has been around a long time. Here its not padded. Kids learn quick though if they act out they will be sent there. Dont want to do an assignment? Throw your books on the floor and stsart yelling. Go to the play room instead.

Whats most amazing is they double down on this stuff. Instead of going back to what worked they continue to reward bad behavior. Just like welfare does.

I worked with a fellow who was in grade school back in the 1940's. He said when they got in trouble they would get swatted and made to sit in the coat closet. Unbeknownst to the teacher this was advantageous to this fellow. Seeing as he was brought up in the "backwoods" he was a dirt poor kid, and a bit more scrappy, schooling with the town kids. Being poor about the most he would have for lunch was salt pork, not like those "rich" town kids having bologna sandwiches and such. Anyway something else that was left in the coat closet were the students lunches. Well this feller took advantage of the situation and would exchange his salt pork for whatever "fine eatin' " sandwich those town kids had. He said getting thrown in that closet became quit a habit. Lol.

One of the current problems nowadays is, they usually integrate the "special abilities" students (should read, students with metal problems), into the classes with all the other kids. This causes a huge disruption and the teacher then needs to spend an inordinate amount of time with the problem kids, resulting in less learning time for the rest of the kids.
Hardly any of the families I know still have their kids in public school because of this factor alone.

I remember there was always calm immediately after an (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) whoopin’.

I guess it’s all about time management.

Retarded kids had their own school . There was no a.d.d. Kids had erasers tossed at them for not paying attention. Got stood up in front of the class with tape on their mouth for talking, Got spanked in the principles office for disrespecting a teacher. That stuff worked. Its why its not done anymore. Country is being deliberately dismantled. We are being made soft. Inch of snow here they close the school. No recess if its cold or hot. No monkey bars, tether ball, dodge ball, or anything else "dangerous".

Friend of mine is livid and going to the school tomorrow, because his boy told him this weekend that he got in trouble and the new principal made him take his shirt off and put on a different one. Because he was wearing a Cabela's shirt and there is a stylized pistol on it, which is against their "violence policy."

Imagine if all parents did their job and somebody else didn’t have to deal with that nonsense.

That’s a better solution than worrying about a room in a school to move the loose cannon to.

But we all know too many parents that are too busy on Facebook or youtube feeds to actually play the role they need to.

I can remember being stood in a corner facing the wall with a dunce cap on. Sent to prof's office where I got a rubber hose or 18" hardwood ruler across the palm of the hand. A backhand when teacher broke up a fight. All only happened once each, as I was a quick learner. My Dad being a WW2 Marine in the South Pacific delt out his own justice at the farm............ Made me a better man. Bless them ALL................. Tut

I need a calming room at work. Might save me from getting fired someday.

I am part of a large farm family .Born in the 1950's with plenty of brothers and sisters my mother had her hands full take care of and raising her kids Raising a garden ,making meals ,making clothes plus helping with farm chores where a daily routine for her .At home if us kids got out of hand she had no problem dealing with making the punishment fit the crime And often when she had made what she felt was the needed correction she would say you just wait till your dad gets home .When it came to education she had always been a good student and she demanded that her kids would getting passing grades and stay out of trouble .And her rule was if you get in trouble in school you will be in more trouble when I find out about it .We all graduated from school and did so without any major problems since .If there is no punishment for bad behavior then the only thing we should expect is bad behavior

Hadn't you heard everyone needs a safe space nowadays. Probably because they have had to endure so much toxic masculinity and pro-Trump hatred!

I'm going to say you guys should all get teachers and see what you learn!! I'm not could never be but my wife is a special Ed teacher. These rooms are not for your average students. In fact mist kids are good and especially if they have good home lives. But as it was mentioned now days public school is all inclusive you have severe mental and abused kids going and nobody can stop them. I don't disagree with you on some aspects but most these kids need a lot of help I mean a lot. There is a sever shortage of special Ed para and teachers if anyone if you want to give it a whirl. I think they start Paras at bout 15 bucks. Some of these kids come from great family that are trying but some do not that room might be the safest place they get to in weeks! Think about that for a while. My wife had a very violent student who was large big kid. They called in school resource officer to help with him many times. Once the office broke kids arm just trying to retrain him. No (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) whooping was is going to help he has severe mental issues but by law he was entitled to go to school. The drug addict mom sued the school after that too! We lived in a messed up world! Safe padded rooms have been in mental hospitals for decades and that's were some of these kids should be.

The calming room when I went to school was the teacher with a large board in hand and you bent over and grabbed your ankles. It worked pretty well calming me down and when I got home Dad would calm me down for getting calmed down at school

I'm sure these rooms are for autistic students who can't control themselves and need a place where they won't hurt themselves. These kids used to be sent to special schools but inclusion is the rule today. And, for some reason, the number of autistic kids is huge now compared to the past.
