What you test a 22 lr? If all it did was blow the cap off a gal jug it wasn't much energy transfer

whatever that is isn't very terminal. A projectile with reasonable terminal ballistics shot into a semi solid object water should have had almost 100% energy transfer and should have caused the bottle to explode. That being said without knowing what it was shot with that could be excellent results.

shot some milk jugs this weekend with the 36gr CCI Mini mag hollow points the "meat eater" labeled ones form the 10 1/2 inch barrel it tore the jug for about 5 inches on the in side and the out was about a 2-3 inch tear
was empty of water right away

with the same ammo and the 5 inch barrel it was about a 2 inch tear on the entrance and a hole about 1/2 inch on the exit and the water leaked out

you picture appears to be a still in time while the bullet is still in the second bottle , is that correct ?

68gr hollow point from the 10 inch barrel about ripped the jug in half and the bottom of the jug hydraulically molded and ripped around the gravel it was setting on.

not sure if you have ever seen the video of a can of soup being shot with a 243

they set a cider block down , then a little steel plate and a coin on the plate then a #10 can of sauce or soup and shoot it with a 243 with a light expanding bullet and the coins image is pressed into the bottom of the can, there isn't much left of the can but the can forms around the coin and metal plate and cracks the concrete block from the rapid expansion.

I would guess from the picture and the white cavitation in the first jug the bullet turns in the first jug and goes base first the rest of the way but with no expansion

What are you using for powder, Wolfie? Running that slow you might be able to get by with a plain base bullet instead of gas checked.

Accurate 2015 with a Dacron filler. Don't plain base ever though , just see way too many problems with it

I'd say with what you're using it's not bad at all.
