I have a 12 year old english lab. The dog still acts like a puppy and really hasn't shown any sign of slowing down. He still gets plenty of retrieves in every year and tracks a handful of deer too.

He currently takes a Cosequin joint supplement and Probios probiotic powder every morning. He has been on this stuff for years and all my other dogs receive the same supplements.

Is there anything else I should be adding to his diet to support him?

Can never go wrong with fish oil. I used the stuff we buy at the trappers supply house. Not like I'm going to be using it for coon anymore.

Years ago I had a dog that was totally bald on her underside. A couple weeks of fish oil and "Poof". Like a Chia Pet. Insta fur growth.

If you're feeding commercial dog feed it probably has a lot of grain in it. Grains are the cause of inflammation and joint pain.

Change his diet to a natural dogs diet, like meat, much of the joint pain may go away. Feed beaver if you can. Deer scraps would be good too.

Remember that for yourself as well.

I've been on a carnivore diet for years. Fixed all my ailments.

Dog eats Victor. Grain free. Carbs are from sweet potatoes in his food I believe.

this may sound stupid so forgive me. One year I tried feed sled dogs good clean deer meat scraps. Gave them the runs. I think White told me to cook it first. I never got around to it.
As for beaver: How much do you give them? I have heard it is very hard on kidneys if you feed too much.
Do you fee it raw or do you cook it some how?
Do you feed any thing other than meat, like some raw vegetables etc. ?

I have mine on cbd oil and an anti inflammatory. Plus heavy dose of fish oil. And it seems to work.Sarge

Feed him a can of pumpkin once a week. Lots of benefits. Google it

You can give him an aspirin to reduce inflammation, pain, and stiffness.
Do not give a dog Tylenol!
We had a big jar of flavored aspirin tablets for our older labs.

The supplements you are giving help very much. We used them on many dogs.

All of our labs got what we believed was the best food. They thrived on it. You may want to look into Eukanuba rice and lamb. They may make a senior food. Sadly, it has been a few years since we lost our last old timer lab. Jake was 2 weeks short of his 15th birthday.
