I saw the boys briefly yesterday afternoon still in full velvet. This morning they were out grazing in the back. I had a brief moment to get a photo before they took off.

I just mowed yesterday so they like the easy feeding on the fresh lush grass clippings. We have had lots of rain so the grass is growing like spring time here.

You can see their antlers are still reddish color from the freshly rubbed velvet. In a few days it will turn the traditional bone white color then they will be ready to spar for real..

I saw these two sparring about 10 days ago while still in velvet. Nothing aggressive, just some brief head to head nudging each other. They know instinctively what is ahead.

Here are the boys how they looked back on July 26th. If they can make it another couple years they will be impressive.

Yes the clock is ticking .September can still be rather hot but the nights are cooler .And I always say when October arrives the clock speeds up There is not enough hours in the day to do the things I want to do .Archery hunting and some small game along with duck and goose .Trapping season gets going in full swing in Nov. And of course rifle deer season at the end of Nov /start of Dec Than there is the muzzleloader season and cable restraint season Nice pictures of the twins They should at least give you some incentive to get out there for another year .
