Ok gang,, I know alot of you guys on here have it,,, so here’s my question. Is arthritis pain constant or does it show up when you have increased activity?? I’ve been having some pain issues in my neck and thought I slipped a disc,,, dr said I had muscle spasms and had me do an xrays,,,, I got a call later that day and was told by the office I have arthritis in it,,, they didn’t say how bad , so I’ll have to call Monday. I don’t have any pain at all when I’m sitting or laying down,, feel 100 percent. But when I get up and walk I get a dull uncomfortable pain …. Again, just comparing notes before calling dr on Monday. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On the bright side you might get a job predicting the weather. Is there any rhyme or reason to it? I went to my doctor to get a crick in my neck checked out thinking he'd refer me to a chiropractor. X-Rays revealed arthritis. I didn't know forty year old guys suffered from it. Mine comes and goes, sometimes the pain is severe and other times it's nonexistent. I don't have any idea what causes it to flare up.

I don't have any idea what causes it to flare up. I think we miss the mark when we assume its just an old person disease. There is young people in crippled conditions from arthritis, some think genetics or viruses . A Dr. put me on Celebrex and I decided the cure was worse than the disease. After that I had a run in with a tick disease and was given doxy. It tore up my guts but the arthritis I already had seem to get better. But the tick thing kept coming back in flare ups and I was running out of cash quick and went off on my own. I started Ivermectin and stevia. If one is a teetotaler the stevia won't be absorbed without soaking it in alcohol. At the time I had no insurance and was grasping at straws. I leave home remedies up to the individual. Who knows what harm is caused by such, but even the CDC and FDA let vioxx kill thousands before alerting anyone, so I guess life has risks. Anyway the long story started out about doxycycline. There was a doctor named Thomas McPherson Brown, MD. His work included giving long term low dosage of doxy for arthritis, of course his peers pounced on him for what ever reason. But I do believe his work has merit. And low dose is a lot easier on the guts. I stay away from asparagus and others acid foods. I had 2 sisters that went with cortisone and gold shots and eventually had joint replacements. I do believe the cortisone works, not advocating bee stings for anyone tho, they can and do kill people. Anyway my wife swears a change to low weather pressure brings on her bouts.

I have arthritis in my lower back. Tough getting going some mornings but the more I move the better it gets. You’re kidding right? With all these obstacles, aches and pains to get over just to get something done leaves me with a great sense of accomplishment before I actually get anything done. So much more to feel good about.

I injured a finger at age 20. Fifty five years later it swells and hurts from increased activity. Skinning deer will set it off. Been walking with a cane lately and that aggravates it also. A hammer and hand saw are not my best friends.
So yes, increased activity is a factor for me. There is a gout med that helps me. allopurinol.

I know I need to quit overthinking,, I just hate it,,, I can’t even go fishing. Was reading stuff and I need to quit,,, everything from compression fracture to a tumor. Just trying to maybe get an explanation. It all started out as a stiff neck,,, kinda like when you look down to long,,, I went a couple days like that… tried to go fishing, but could only hack it for about an hour… I went home and laid down,,, I woke up, locked up, in intense pain,, had to go to er. Dr said pulled muscle… gave me shots of flexioral, torridal and Valium,,,,, it helped me sleep,,, quite good. Next to days I couldn’t get out of bed,,, just try to find a spot on the bed to lay where I was most comfortable… o went to the chiropractor and he worked me all over,,, I was still stiff when I left,, but improved a bit… I’ve had 2 more visits since then and not much improvement in some areas.. that’s why I went to the doctor. It only hurts In my neck between the shoulders when I have increased activity,,, even simply walking… it feels 100 percent when I’m laying down,,, no pain.

When you lie down there is no load on those vertebrae but when you stand they are weight bearing......in compression. I'd forget the chiro and see a spine specialist. I'll bet a steroid injection in the right spot will give you relief

I have osteo arthritis just about in every joint, was just diagnosed as also having probable rheumatoid arthritis... No excruciating pain, but pain and fatigue that never goes away, mornings are tough. Aleve, etc used to help but when you're bone on bone nothing really works. Some people have good results with cortisone shots, or gel injections in the knees if it's not too advanced, fish oil and turmeric helps some people also. Motion doesn't help me, too advanced for the simple stuff.
Waiting to see if the new meds help, the side effects are scary , but nothing ventured nothing gained, lol
You may want to see a rheumatologist.
