Visa Caves, Will Recategorize Gun Purchases so Democrats Can Flag Them

Visa caved to the demands of New York Democrats and gun control groups and will recategorize gun purchases in a way that allows them to be flagged.

On August 28, 2022, Breitbart News noted Gabby Giffords’ gun control group, Giffords, was urging major credit companies to flag gun and ammo purchases via a new sales categorization.

Giffords posted a tweet which said, “The shooters in at least 5 mass shootings have stockpiled guns & ammo using credit cards and killed 145 people. Visa, Mastercard, and American Express have the power to flag suspicious purchases and save lives. Call on them to act.”

On August 30 Breitbart News noted Democrat New York lawmakers were urging major credit card companies to create a new firearms-specific category code which would in effect flag gun purchases in the state and around the country.

On September 7, 2022, Breitbart News pointed out NY Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) was urging Visa, American Express, and Mastercard to take action and “do their part” for gun control.

On September 10, 2022, the Associated Press explained Visa will be recategorizing gun purchases and other “sales at gun shops.”

The AP noted, “[This] a major win for gun control advocates who say it will help better track suspicious surges of gun sales that could be a prelude to a mass shooting.”

Until now, gun and ammo purchases have shown up under a broad category, like sporting goods.

But Visa’s move to comply with Democrat and gun control group demands means such purchases will have a distinct firearm-related moniker, making them easier to flag.

I only use my cc a few times a year for large purchase to get the points, but I can see its time to cancel the cc as its a vise. Are the other ones like Mastercard and AMEX falling suit?

Ok after a quick search the rest of the big name credit cards are doing the same. Time to start paying cash for any gun related items being it ammo, firearm itself, magazines, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if in the near future you can only buy those items unless its paid for with a card so they can track it all.

Won't be using anything but cash to buy guns.

Cash is great but it hard to buy what you need when it's not in stock. O look it's on line but you can't pay cash for that. It's the ammo and components that will get you.

Find a good price buy several k to store up, or a pallets for your local club or youth event bam flaged.

Omg he order 500 rounds of ammo at once must be planing an attack. No one needs more than a few hundred rounds a year after all.

Most of my guns and ammo are bought locally and always with cash. I do order some ammo online with my debit card though and will continue to do so. They can come knocking if they want. I’ll just call our Sheriff Dept to report trespassers and that I’m in fear for my life and see how it plays out.

I wonder how long tell it in effect, how much $, or amount of ammo it takes to get flag? Then what happen if you are flaged. Wonder if 5k rounds will do it. It about time to make some orders.

My UPS driver told me years ago he was supposed to report and excessive ammo deliveries. In my case he said he’d rather deliver ammo than trapping supplies (bait, lures, urine) lol!!!

This is not good.I shoot a 16 gauge alot.also dove hunt with it.ammo has been getting harder to find for it over the years so I buy it online.I usually buy enough for the year in one big purchase online with a debit card

I've never had either, don't know the difference between the two. Don't confuse convenience with necessity.

Its easy, for instance we already take USPS money orders, cash and crypto. We have never and wont ever accept credit cards, spending money shouldnt cost money.

With a credit card you can purchase something even if you don’t have the money to pay for it.

With a debit card you can only purchase whatever funds you have in the bank to cover it. If something is $5k and you only have 3K then you ain’t getting it, lol.
