Had a Trapper/Rancher friend ask me if I would make him a recovery hook for his side by side. He seen my Wolf Drag's and it give the idea. I gotta say I could have used one a time or two.

Nicely done! I have something for the purpose, but very different. Bought it fromCabelas. It is a tapered V. Never needed it. Honestly, I like your concept much better. In the design, could you make one that would lay flat? Either pivot, or sections pinned together?
Next, could you make one for an F-350 diesel?

A buddy wanted something like that, I suggested he buy a small Danforth anchor, light weight, folds flat, and holds a bunch of weight.

what happens when it lets go and you have a lot of tension on the cable ?
isn't that the reason everyone was switching to straps , soft shackles and am-steel rope , so that it wouldn't have the energy to do damage when it lets go?
just asking , I don't know if it would or would not be an issue.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I have an all time dumb question. What’s the purpose of this recovery hook? I assumed steep terrain you can't get up for lack of traction or stuck in mud and no trees around to get a strap around. but also interested in intended terrain use

I have an all time dumb question. What’s the purpose of this recovery hook? Most of off road trails in Alaska! Actually don’t even need a trail to loose a rig in a hole!
I love the smell of burning spruce---I love the sound of a spring time goose---I love the feel of 40 below---from my trapline I will never go!

I made this one that folds up by pulling a couple of pins. The way its made, the harder you pull, the deeper it goes into the ground. I got stuck in the snow 3 miles back in off the road with nothing to hook winch to. I also mounted a winch in the back, so can pull either direction. I like that, looks well worth it. Specially when stuck right.
