Heading out there tomorrow for a 4 day archery antelope hunt. Didn’t know if any Trapperman members are from the area! Hunting on the Flying H ranch , south of Sheridan. Sitting on water holes and maybe a little spot and stalk. Excited for the trip. Hopefully pictures and story to follow within a few days.

Thanks! We’re actually flying into Rapid City, SD . Renting a car and driving over to Sheridan tomorrow afternoon. Planning on doing some sight seeing. Any recommendations?

I lived in Sheridan for many years, still have two sons and their wives and four granddaughters there. My wife and I moved back up to Montana in 2017.
Shows the flying H is out by Bighorn. Beautiful country, right at the base of the Bighorns. You will love the country and should be plenty of goats. Enjoy!

Rushmore is about 30 South of Rapid.
Lots to see and do in the Hills and Big Horns

Spearfish canyon, spearfish fish hatchery, Devils Tower, Gore Buffalo jump, all pretty much on your way. Just off the path is Deadwood, Mt Rushmore, Needles Hwy., Down town Rapid is a cool, There is a big gun store, the name escapes me, but is very worth the visit.

You can go up the mountain through Buffalo. Nice drive. Up Red Grade outside Big Horn. Along with the crowd of yahoos. I’d recommend going up through Dayton and fish the tongue river off the highway. Tongue River Canyon right outside Dayton if you’d like a short mountain hike. Check and see if the griz is still hooked up in Ranchester.

Kings saddled in Sheridan has a fantastic museum in behind the store , then the Mint Bar across the street both you need to see .
The Little Bighorn battlefield is about 80 miles north of there at Crow Agency that hasn't changed much since the battle took place and the headstones were placed n the battlefield itself.

The bear is still there.

Good luck on the goats. Saw lots of them everywhere I went south of Sheridan a few weeks ago. Watch out you are hunting where you think you are.

Gary Owen Montana is where the Indian museum is. They have all the cool stuff from the Custer battle / Greasy Grass. I saw Custer's gloves. The family that got them off him took great care of them. They even beaded them to honor Custer.
