It's been a long road since I bought this used travel trailer this past spring, but all the upgrades are finally finished. I'm ready for outage season now and hopefully won't have many issues. Essentially, I made it (as best I could) a 4 season travel trailer for about half the price. I've tried to make this as bulletproof as you can make a travel trailer, using all the knowledge of things that went wrong over the years with my other trailer. So what all did I do? Well, if I can remember everything, here's the list.

1. Replaced all wheel bearings with American made Timken Bearings and races.
2. New American made tires all around and the spare.
3. Replaced the slide out awning.
4. Mounted a cover over the bathroom roof fan vent.
5. Goldnut made me fiberglass inner fenders and helped me install them. If I ever have another blowout, this should help from trashing my trailer.
6. Sanded off any rust on the frame and repainted the frame.
7. Fluid filmed the frame.
8. Added an extra 120 outlet under the fridge.
9. Put heaters on all 4 tanks, all sewer lines and wired them to switches inside the camper.
10. Put 3 way valves on the low point drains so I can isolate them, and they do not freeze while winter camping.
11. Insulated and fully enclosed the underbelly of the camper.
12. diverted some heat to the space between the floor and the fabric sub flooring to ensure pipes don't freeze.
13. Put a vent under the shower to help warm air circulate in the winter.
14 Replaced the magnesium element in the water heater and put in a drain valve.
15. Rodent proofed it (as best I could).
16. Replaced the propane hose with a longer one so I can use 40Lb tanks and lengthened the hold down.
17. Installed a tire pressure monitoring system.

And today, I finally finished up the removable skirting I will use in the winter. I have a few finishing touches to do on the skirting yet, but it's pretty much finished. Here are a couple pics.

You've definitely put some thought and work into it! Hopefully get a lot of years of trouble free use out of it.

In case anyone was wondering about the inner fenders that Goldnut made, here are some pictures. I think there is a market for these. I told him we should think about going into business.

Nice work. I will probably use some of your ideas.

After seeing what that tire did to your last rig, I'd agree those inner fenders should be standard!

As far as insulating the underbelly, I went with foam board. I believe it's supposed to be R10 or something. I'm not looking to bake a cake under there, just trying to keep 33 degrees or warmer in the winter so I hope it will do fine. I blocked off places under the camper that don't have water lines. I hope the tank heaters and the forced air heater diversion keep the temp above 32 degrees. I think I'll be ok.

What is your skirting material and how does it attach to the camper. Looks like maybe it snaps on?

Yup, actually I bought adhesive snaps (Very expensive) from a company in Canada called EZsnaps I believe. It's 3M adhesive. So far, it's good stuff. The actual skirting is from a company called billboard tarps. A "store bought" skirt for my size camper was around $1500 minimum. I made this one for under $400.

Sounds like a lot of work, but very sensible and practical upgrades.

I like the fender liners.

I installed heavy plastic ones in my truck, mainly to protect against mud, rocks, etc, but they would provide blowout protection also.

Hope you get a lot of service out of the trailer.

I don't live year round in my trailer. I only use it for work, and a camping trip or two with the wife in the summer if she bugs me enough. I'm in it about a month at a time. About 4 months a year in different states. I'll stay in it East of the Mississippi, if I have work on the West Coast, I'll fly and rent a place.

The blocks are just a boarder in my driveway to keep the lawn and gravel separated. The plan was/is to put cap stones on them at some point to make it pretty.
