Anyone go with any of these Conservation Season guides for a spring hunt? Thinking about booking a hunt, so need all the info I can get.....where, who, how much, etc.

I'll just say be very careful...most reputable guides are booked a couple years in advance. Seems every college kid with a couple hundred windsocks is a "guide" now days.

I agree, I use to guide for the spring season. Know one can predict the migration so booking hunter on March 1st in S.D. is a joke. The birds could be 500 miles south still. And setting up in a corn field that birds have not been in is very risky. I had a list of hunter and would call when The bird were within a day or so of my hunting area. I have seen bird come into a area for a day and then had a storm move in and push them back south 300 miles. Most of the big guides set up big spreads and just hope birds come in. I would always set up in a corn field that they were in the day before.

There self proclaimed goose capital of the world.

Saskatchewan is where you want to be in the fall. And N.D. in the spring.

I hunted with Show Me Snow Geese in Maryville, Mo- we shot birds but not in high numbers. We timed it perfectly as the Squaw Creek Refuge was at maximum capacity, the first day we shot a lot of birds out of some awesome spins, day 2 we had 50 mph winds that night and the refuge emptied out, I think we shot 6 the next day in total. The guides worked hard moving fields and decoys but hard to hunt what's not there, they had year-over-year leases in some of the better spots so they've been around awhile.

I'd go with those guys before I went with the large outfitter that sits a permanent spread and hopes for birds to come every day

You want to snow goose hunt with someone who has absolutely no idea where the birds will be, because they are being honest with you

Anyone who tells you this far out that you need to a specific location at a specific time is flat out lying to you

Find a guide that follows the birds and hunts the feed in a different location every day and you will have fun

Gotta live up to the nickname...

When I guide for Waterfowl in Saskatchewan I would go up there about 15 to 20th of Sept every year and hunt till the 3rd weekend in Oct. In the 13 yrs I was up there guiding we averaged 69 Geese per day with 3 to 4 shooters. It was easy to shoot your 8 black geese everyday. I never added up all the Duck shoot in the morning.

I am on the road with really poor internet right now so can't get you contact info. I have gone with Jeff Wasley from 4 Flyways Outfitters (I think that's right). Very good guide who seems to put folks on the geese pretty consistently, He's a local boy who guides in the Dakotas, Canada, and Alaska.

If I was going for Spring Snows, he is who I would call. He has a heckuva website.
