Doubt that will happen SJA, this is the Conductors and Engineers striking. It takes time to school and qualify on sections/routes.
Military have qualified engineers and conductors' available, you can bet on it.

I'm sure they have people who can make an engine move, but that's where it ends.
Who is going to operate the signals? Who is going to fuel them? Who is going to tell them what's on the cars and where they go?
Ect, ect. You can't be serious to think RR employees can't be replaced

May not be politically motivated. Not Rep or Dem. Everything that happens is not because of politics. I beg to difer, pretty much everything is because of politics these days. Just ask your great Mayor Manhiemer. (Won't even except her husbands last name).

That was my first thought, shut down some pipelines, deincentivise new drilling, and now stop the trains. Odd the democrats won't help the unions. Something stinks. my dad was a teamster , I don't think it was never about the worker for the politicians, it was how do we find a group of people to legitimize use as a political party , sure we will be the party of labor. the Dems hardly even pay party of labor lip service any more , labor hardly needs any hand outs and politicians hand outs always look like a kid picking berries while not being watched 1 for me 1 for the bucket dad was union 78-95 when he took a medical pension after getting hurt so technically a retired teamster he could never work in any industry that in any way competed with anything a teamster could do he couldn't take the pension then drive bus where he wouldn't have to lift anything.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

40 years ago 80% of freight was hauled by trucks. dont get yer panties in a wad. it took computers and gps tracking of cars to make the RR competitive. 40 years ago hours of service was a joke. log books called comic books by drivers. stuff got delivered. lots of us aint forgot how. i put ten hours in my semi last friday. went home and slept four hours. at 1230 that night i got in my pickup and drove to east bethel mn to pick up a boat motor. got there at 9 am. drove back home and got here at six pm saturday.

Amtrak cancels long distance trains, announces other schedule adjustments as rail strike looms. Amtrak says some scheduled services will not be affected while long-distance trips will be canceled.
