Doubt that will happen SJA, this is the Conductors and Engineers striking. It takes time to school and qualify on sections/routes.

I'm sure they have people who can make an engine move, but that's where it ends.

Who is going to operate the signals?
Who is going to fuel them?
Who is going to tell them what's on the cars and where they go?

Ect, ect.

You can't be serious to think RR employees can't be replaced grin

dad was union 78-95 when he took a medical pension after getting hurt so technically a retired teamster he could never work in any industry that in any way competed with anything a teamster could do he couldn't take the pension then drive bus where he wouldn't have to lift anything.

40 years ago 80% of freight was hauled by trucks. dont get yer panties in a wad. it took computers and gps tracking of cars to make the RR competitive. 40 years ago hours of service was a joke. log books called comic books by drivers. stuff got delivered. lots of us aint forgot how. i put ten hours in my semi last friday. went home and slept four hours. at 1230 that night i got in my pickup and drove to east bethel mn to pick up a boat motor. got there at 9 am. drove back home and got here at six pm saturday.

If they are ok to strike it goes through congress
If they do strike then company guys run trains or fix the track.

Lol. How many truckers would it take to come close to being able to touch the volume of anything moved by rail?
