Some guys run big numbers of marten traps like 100 or more if they have the population and land.

In my hay day I usually ran about 50 lynx sets and 10-25 marten traps, (I dont have many marten) a few under ice beaver snares as well.

I would run 250 marten, owned 45 #9 and set most depending on the year, dozens of wolf snares, dozen wolverine sets up to 30 beaver sets
at a time thru the ice.

Lots of sets and many miles in hungry country! In my hay day I might ad!

On a normal year I run 80-100 marten sets, 20 lynx sets, 30 wolf traps, 100-150 wolf snares, 10 wolverine sets. A handful of coyote and fox sets depending

You guys are some go-getters! The most I had (snares and traps combined) out last year at any one time was 76 sets.

Where I trap, at least my small line, there aren't a lot of marten, or any great numbers of anything, really, with the exception of mink.
I run between 10 and 18 marten sets, a few wolverine sets, and one or two otter sets. I also hang a dozen or so wolf snares, and used to set a handful of mink sets.
The area I trap is very confined, with 3200' mountains dropping down very close to the ocean, leaving a pretty narrow bench of brush and mixed timber. I probably catch most of what travels through, but it is tough country, and accessibility can be daunting.

Since you asked about the average guy, according to the Alaska Trapper Questionnaire, most AK trappers put out less than 50 sets. About 10 to 15% run over 100 sets and answer questionnaires That is old data. With these prices, it is probably less than 10% put out over 100 sets.

I don’t know about go getter. 1983 I was given my line. I spent every year cutting trails to untouched ridges off the main trail. As I focused in on primarily marten the traps and poles remained throughout the years. Same with wolf snares I used the same snares year after year. Every year was an adventure finding pockets of fur. Early years owning a double track Ski Doo Alpine helped because it was like a bull dozer and any tree over 2” I would cut so lots of the exploring and new trails were less time consuming.
