Lot of nice squirrel guns. The Cooper in M2 is one I always wanted. Passed on the. M2 craze and surprised the cal did not last. But I bought a 541-T when the first came out and they did not last.either. Never could understand the big money spent on deer rifles when you shoot a few times a year. But why not spend same money for a squirrel rifle at least in Mo you can shoot tree rats from end of May till Jan 15 th. Hope I don’t upset any big game hunters. You also like your sport and I respect that.

I usually use my 20 gauge 870 with #6, but sometimes I like to get out the single shot .410.
While on the topic of squirrel guns...I'm thinking about getting a rifle for hunting squirrels and was wondering what you guys favorite rimfire round for treerats is? I'm really considering .17 hmr, but is that too much gun for them?

All we have in my area are fox squirrels, 10/22 for me as well.

I use the same one I've used for 45 years. It's a Marlin "Golden 60" just a model 60 with a gold color tube and trigger. I did put a 3X9 scope on it for my old eyes. Shoots straight.

Just a old Marlin 25 bolt, open sights.

I got a Remington single shot rifle from my father in law 40 years ago. No scope but one of the more accurate rifles I have shot. Don't shoot many but I get some good ones every year. We have nice big eastern fox tails here and they are bigger and easier to hit.

shotgun is easier to get them but I hate picking shot out of the meat and worse finding it while eating

Wish we had those big fat Fox Squirrels like some of you guys have.We have Greys ,Blacks and Reds.

Fox squirrel's are almost gone around here. Used to have more fox than greys. Greys travel more, which is why you more greys smashed on the roads. Hardly ever see a fox squirrel in the road when we did have more. Plus it doesn't help that fox squirrels tend to let you walk right up to them so they were overhunted because they were easiwr and provided more meat.
