The state funeral of Elizabeth II?

Mild anglophile here in spite of being of highland scot jacobite extraction. But as a senatchie historian (gael oral family historian) I just can't not watch historical events unfold.

My takeaway, in mild awe that such ancient honors still exist in this crazy modern world. There is much to be said of tradition and a long institutional memory that can help guide the way into the future.

Secondary, the open vocal Christian commentary through it all. Were it not the Queen of Great Britain commentary that would undoubtedly be censored.

Comparison to our own transitions of power and honor to our not as ancient constitutional rule of law sees us coming up woefully lacking.

And this dead beezoe is pasted all over every channel mad

How many Americans died just yesterday alone ? No mention

Just my 2 cents

Not me. The Kings and Queens in England do not concern me near as much as the Jokers in Washington.

I had it on in my office.

While I wouldn't want to live in a monarchy or anywhere else on this globe, I appreciate the tradition. I also appreciate honor, manners, class and civility. It has been some impressive television.

Agreed, we do live in a rather unique experiment of personal liberty. But I would opine that we have somehow lost the personal duty that comes with it.

I always have liked seeing the horses the guard rides and uses to pull the wagons. How impeccably they're groomed, the gear used on them, and the military precision of the riders.

I didn’t watch because of the time difference and the fact it was 4 hours long. I will watch the highlights which I’m sure will be aired on some channel.

I enjoy the pageantry and all the pomp and circumstance and traditions that are hundreds of years old. It is nice to see a country embrace its traditions and history rather than tearing them down and trying to ignore and obliterate them.

I watched some of it just because of the rarity.

I was thinking the old girl was going to start getting ripe if they didn't plant her soon. Enough already.

Did not watch any of the coverage of the richest white privileged woman in the world who lived her whole life on blood money.

I think the last Pope lied in state longer than her, but maybe not.

You would've liked this touch.

As the hearse entered the grounds of Windsor Castle the grooms from the mews were lined up and standing in the center was a groom holding Emma the Queens Fell Pony.

You may want to do some research on that subject before making a statement like that . . . If people spent as much time digging up facts as they do jumping to conclusions, they’d get better exercise.

I've seen photos of Emma ! The Fell pony , they are such a refined pretty type...a lot like Welsh.

I didn't see the shot you mentioned, I bet that was beautiful.

The horses in Britain are almost as grand as they are in Ireland and Germany.

SJA, the stories of England's rule are as varied as they are for other countries ..... and as confused in fact and error blending.

Naw, I stopped paying attention to the royal family in 1776.
