JP for time in the woods there isn't a much longer season here nor one you can keep shooting and eating so readily.

I think the inner kid in most of us like a good squirrel hunt

also a great excuse to go hunting.

I keep thinking about getting a call mostly I just go sit still and wait till they get confident I am there for deer then pop one.

I have a plunger type that makes a sound much like a squirrel barking .And I also have a Mr Squirrel whistle which is a squirrel in distress sound . They work especially like someone said when you are trying to locate one in a tree. I like trying different methods from time to time .So even when they are plentiful either calling them to you or calling to locate and than stalking them is fun.

I had seen the tube and rubber part maybe pllunger you could call it type , but hadn't seen the whistle

Walk in sit in a deer stand with your .22 rifle. Wait until the woods gets quiet. Knock two USA quarters together ...not Canadian...JK - eh! Either works.
They'll come out ; nice quiet water to hunt

Mr Squirrel is awesome especially in the early season.

We use the plunger stile. In the early season. I will have one and my son will have one. By two different makers. We get about 40 yards apart, and make calls to each other. Talk about the squirrels coming running in. By using two different ones from different companies. They have two different tones, so the squirrels think, they have two different squirrels coming in their area. Works great!

The one I call a plunger type is made by PS OLT .If you look you can see the name on it .I have had it for a long time .The Mr Squirrel whistle call is used to imitate the sound of a squirrel in distress It causes them to move to check out why a squirrel is making that sound .They both work Calling does not guarantee
you a bag limit ever time you use it .But for me it is just another way to increase my enjoyment of hunting

Gator foot Never thought of it but it makes sense .Like I sad if it adds to your satisfaction why not .

Over the years I have worn two or three of these out when you know they’re close this will get their attention and bring them out.
