I have several friends with Celiacs Disease and cannot eat gluten. One of them is a frequent poster on this forum.

Good for them they have an option.

I have friends with these same thing. It's no joke. My friend said sure he can eat gluten as long as they don't mind if he poops on the floor because he won't make it to the bathroom.

He only at meat for weeks, then slowly added one thing at a time back into his diet untill he found don't what he could eat.

So what do y'all suppose is causing this? 40 years ago it didn't seem to be an issue for anyone?

It was never my intent to suggest there isn't people with special needs. My intent is to suggest what it can become. If one sees somebody building a road toward a wall then starting to build a ramp. What would be the conclusion? With the climate change and banning meat ads in a Dutch city what is next as far as food is concerned.

People with peanut allergies often get it from cross contamination from the processor. Does that mean they should ban peanuts from everyone or better yet tax them. Ok, so its just one little ad, wonder where that first ad against fur started because it offended just one persons conscience? It most likely wasn't that one person that changed peoples minds about fur but an idea in a organization that saw $$$ signs and promoted it as a " good thing ".

One could argue that the more healthy food is a free market, but at what point does the gov decide what is in the best interest of everyone.

The fur market was once a free market until a few decided it was a taboo. If you still think its a free market then stop complaining about cheap fur prices.

Yotetrapper30 they are not sure but my buddy did get a vasectomy over a decade ago. His wife saw an article not long ago that had a limited study that linked that as a possible cause. Something about sperm always being reabsorbed in the body instead of expelled. So that is one possibility but not confirmed.

There sure were not as many men back then willing to get cut. Or as much go and processed food.

The cause has a few theories but no sure answer I know of.

Most tortilla chips are made from 100% ground corn which is gluten free. There are some brands that use a mixture of corn and wheat flour.

Almond flour is generally used to make things gluten free when a recipe calls for flour.

So technically corn tortilla chips are already gluten free.

Didn't buy them . Saw them in Kroger yesterday and first thought was this is an oxymoron. Sort of like a grill cheese but without the cheese...

THANK YOU !!! I didn't post that because the usual suspects would have said something a holish. Sort of like the very first comment after I posted it....

Science and modern medicine they didn't have 40 years ago are just first finding it. I'm guessing that there are folks here who when they first tried drinking milk got a case of the trots. I know when I was a kid if I drank more than a cup of milk at one time. I was going to get the squirts or at best room clearing gas. Can't say that I quit drinking milk or eating ice cream. Maybe more selective about when and where.
Now day Im guessing the doctor would tell me I was lactose intolerant. Don't know??
I do got to wonder how the human gene pool would look without medical intervention. We humans don't tolerate defects in other species like we do in humans. If we let nature take it's course way back when say penicillin was the new thing. like people like to say with wild life let nature do it's thing. Probably be bunch of us culled by nature before we were ever born.
Wasn't no way to save first cave man ever ate the wrong food. Probably wasn't processed gluten or sugar. But he either survived didn't eat it again or died and others said don't eat that. It killed old Ugh!

Not all tortilla chips are gluten free.

I have friends that are Celiac that are older than the hills. I would say Mac nailed it that 40 years ago we understood less.

Tortilla chips are typically made from corn. Corn is a grain that is naturally GLUTEN FREE.

I guess i'll have to tell them to shut down the GLUTEN PLANT at the corn processing plant I worked at for 35 years.

teepee. I'm sorry you are correct, I apparently had a brain fart. Corn does in fact have gluten but it is a different form of gluten than what is found in wheat and typically does not effect people with gluten sensitivity.
