I have coyotes killing chickens. I would love to trap them but this time of year I have a robust bear population. Is there some bait or someway to trap coyotes without catching bear. I have no interest in trying to remove a trap from a live bear.

Run a light trap that is just enough to hold a coyote with a longer chain and staked solid in the hopes that any bear you catch will pull out. Is about all I can suggest, bears are curious and I don't know of anything that will attract a coyote that doesn't have a possibility of attracting bears.

Can you snare them there?

I can but have never snared. They are coming in through an open field so choosing a spot may be tough. I would still be worried about hooking a cub.
