He should be able to just get a new piece and nipple from CVA, much simpler fix.

If that doesn't work Catch. I would have him contact the Log Cabin in Lodi. Those guys build some wonderful cutom muzzleloaders. They may be able to give advice or help. Yes they do , and if you have a Hawkins that the stock cracked , they will fix it !

Here's a few more: https://logcabinshop.comhttp://www.therifleshoppe.comhttps://www.trackofthewolf.comSomeone has sure put the vice grips to that drum. Spanish made, those threads are probably metric. Getting a new nipple will be easy, I'd be worried about the stripped threads in the drum you mentioned. couple options; oversized nipple, or maybe replace the drum and get a new nipple also. I see you're in Ohio, Log Cabin Shop is in Lodi, Ohio. Very good people to deal with. They got a couple of MZ gunsmiths there on site you can tell your troubles to. On the phone or in person. Figure out what the thread is and you get the corresponding tap from the hardware store. They'll be standard metric (probably) or SAE threads. No such thing as nipple threads. If I was going to reuse the drum maybe I'd sand down and re-blue that drum with cold blue while I was working on it.

If the drum rusted up so bad the threads are gone where the nipple goes and the drum cant be unscrewed from the rifle, its time to buy a new rifle. I seriously doubt it shoots very accurately

easier to re-thread in a larger size nipple track of the wolf sells the 7-1 repair nipple for the CVA the breech plug on those is not removable , well you can but it doesn't clock right going back on is my understanding , you might be able to get a new bolster but those things sold for at Walmart near the end so not a high dollar piece , they shoot fine we have 2 of them for the 4-H kids to shoot. the original nipple thread is 6-1 metric 6mm thread pitch 1 so a 7-1 is just big enough that all you really need is the tap and new nipple make sure to tap it strait here is the link the cva 7-1 nipple in the description it has the part number for the tap they also sell https://www.trackofthewolf.com/List/Item.aspx/64/1?PageSize=100I put a tiny bit of anti seize on the nipple threads each time I put the nipple in , tiny also you need thread engagement and snug but no real torque if I had to give it a inch pound value I would say like 2-5 inch pounds till it stops at the shoulder and like 2 degrees more turn so if you screw it in when you met resistance go just a couple degrees more just snug your not torqueing down lug nuts here. most people try and go too tight and that is what strips the threads it is not hard steel all that Spain muzzle loader steel is soft stuff

that is not the worst one I have seen , most people never take the tang off or the lock out so even if they take good care of the barrel those parts get some powder residue on them
I take the CVAs and really all of them apart every time , good screw drivers to not bugger the screw heads midway sells a wheeler kit that is very handy
I clean everything with hot soapy water , then a hot water rinse , then la out on a towel and dry , then when dry lube each part to prevent rust
the barrel dry with patches and lube while still warm with a natural lube like bore butter , wonder2000 , tallow and bee's wax or something like that.
I then put a rag down and set them muzzle down on the rag or old sock so that the warm lube doesn't run into the flash channel and cause ignition issues next time you take it out
with a good cleaning we can shoot them then clean and store for a year without issue , but it is all about that good cleaning and lube
the barrel should be smooth inside and not snag a moistened patch if it snags a patch some can be re-habbed with a really good scrubbing of flitz metal polish then a cleaning and lube, but if it snags a patch , she is not good to use
lots of people bought those at Walmart cheap maybe shot them a weekend then put them away and they turned into sewer pipes
