Western SD Fur Harvesters, SDTA, NTA, FTA and life member of NRA. Cancer survivor (7 years) and still fighting it.

yukonjeff trapper Y Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,796 M.T.V. Alaska	I bought the 7400 automatic in 30-06 new for $350 in anchorage in 1982. I have shot alot of moose and caribou and a few deer and bears with it. Its great shooting rifle but I would never recommend one. It has a tendency to not slam closed after firing. Must be very clean at all times. I even oil the first casing I shoot so it wont stick in the chamber. Had that happen a few times. The gun came with a angled chamber brush for that very reason. It also had that plastic cheapo looking dust cover over the chamber, I took off after thinking it was the problem. I got a Ruger 7 mm mag I have been using for the last 7 -8 years I never brought the 06 out since. https://www.youtube.com/user/yukonjeffimagery/videos?disable_polymer=1

Squash trapper S Joined: Dec 2014 Posts: 2,465 Tug Hill, NY	52 years ago I purchased my first deer rifle, a new in the box, Rem model 742 BDL Deluxe 30-06 for $160. Killed about 20 whitetail bucks with it.
