I went down to dads on Sunday and drew out the carving patterns on the new squirrel rifle. They are based on an original by John Rupp, simpler than the original. Dad has them almost all carved, just has the patchbox side left to do. Here is the design behind the cheekpiece and under the forestock. He is coming up Saturday, the carving will be done and we will get the gun stained and I'll oil it next week.

I will send you a PM one of these days. I have a pile of locks, hammers, patchboxes, etc that i have no clue what they are but would like to see but back into service.

I have nothing clever to put here.

My dad would appreciate that. And we also have a young guy who joined our club who is just getting into building these. Either way, they'd be sure to find a good home.

Sounds good. They are cluttering up my bench.

Looks like it will be a great looking gun when you have it finished

I cast a few ball for this rifle the other night. I've been shooting a 54 caliber for 2 years and shot a 50 for 15 years before that. These little 36 caliber balls look puny compared to what I'm used to. But, I'll sure save on lead and powder when shooting.

Some 36s and 54s.

I shoot a .50 and when I got my little .36 it was like shooting a BB gun....but I love it!
