I had a Bad stroke at 41 due to a damaged inner Corotid artery while Tubing
Brain blockage that never dissipated fully.

I'm 57 now.

My dad died shortly after he turned 52. Had some sort of heart attack...NEVER went to the Dr! Get checked out guys, could save your life, and allow you to meet your grandkids! Be well!

Well, all I can say is I have been living with a totally blocked left carotid artery for 15 years and right at 60% blockage. That is my excuse for being goofy.
Everyone is different, but quit tobacco immediately if you use it, get your weight under control, exercise regularly, watch the carb intake and take a good quality fish oil supplement at high doses.

I have not and do not take any drugs for it as recommended by my doctors and they put in my records that I have a conflicted attitude towards medical management. I did tons of research and only take natural supplements now as I have weaned myself off prescription meds and my overall health has improved.

Now, that is just me and I am not suggesting it will work for anyone else.

Oh, and I am old.

It could also be hereditary. Any of the older folks in either side of your family die as a result of hardening of the arteries ?

I have been diagnosed with a "severely" blocked carotid left artery. Have been having yearly testing and now it is time to act. Because my Dad had a couple of aneurisms they are checking me out for that as well.
I say thank God for my doctor who has been watching. I have had two options offered: surgery to clean out the artery or put in a stent which opens up the artery. I've decided on the stent because of less chance of nerve damage. I have no symptoms. My mother had a stroke, followed by a heart attack. I doubt that anyone ever checked her carotids.

During My stroke I had a 97% blocked carotid with a 65% brain block on one side . Abbott NW. Wouldn't ream it out or it would send clots to my brain and kill me.

They allowed my R carotid to die and it devolved in a year. My left side paralysis was bad

I asked a preacher for an anointing of oil and my paralysis went away in a year..

Praise God!!!

I have only one carotid on L side now and a 25% brain block that my Specialist monitors but says should have dissipated. He says " With that blockage remaining there is No Earthly reason That I should be walking and talking as I do" medical miracle.

Get it worked on ...listen to your Specialist

I smoke, chew, drink and love bacon and wild women. I am 7 work days away from retirement and HOPE to be dead by 60. It is all about what you want out of life. My last doctor visit was over 5 years ago. Sometimes not knowing is beast.

I have nothing clever to put here.

April 30, 2010 I suffered a stroke that would have killed me through my own stupidity. Fortunately I had a bunch of very special people who were much smarter than me and forced me into a hospital. This world is a whole lot bigger than any of us and with 2 surgeries, I am still roaming woods and fields with a life still available ahead of me. Pride can kill strong men, and I would guess women as well. Heed signs and be receptive to messages, they just might save your life.

Is there a way to clear out the blocked arteries and make people new again? Kinda like preventative maintenance.

No orgran meat.
If you drink pop make it diet. Diet 7up, Diet Rootbeer, Diet Sunkist, Fresca, Diet Squirt, Diet Dr Pepper are all good diet pops.
No fast food.
Drink black coffee.
Stop putting butter in everything.
Stop eating bacon.
Stop eating hamburgers. Use ground chicken. Put a pack of Italian seasoning in it and maybe some wirch sauce before you make patties.
Stop eating lunch meat.
Stop eating cheese. That one hurts.
Stop using cooking oil and buy olive oil. I like avocado oil better.
Stop eating ranch. Use balsamic vinegar.
Stop using sour cream and start using plain yogurt (plain, not vanilla) (say your making a chip dip... no so much to pile on your nachos.)

There is lean pork. The right pork is better for you than beef but not as good for you as chicken.
Rotisserie chicken is good. Plain, Chicken Noodles, sandwiches.
Boneless skinless chicken breast is good. Fajitas. Grill color bell peppers, onions, squash, and mushrooms.
Tacos using ground chicken is good. Taco seasoning makes it good. Buying it at the spice store is better than the Ortega foil pack crap. Try fajita seasoning.
Grilled portabella mushrooms.
Baked spaghetti squash.
Honey Nut Cheerios.
Pasta is good. No alfredo. Pesto might be ok if you find a good one.
Try buying some seasoned rice wine vinegar and eating that on veggies.
Use hummus for a dip.
Use hummus for grilled cheese sandwiches without the cheese.
Google low fat soups.

That's enough to get you started. Good luck.

I agree with much of what you list. Except when it comes to pop. If you drink diet pop check to see if it's sweetened with Aspartame. Aspartame has been linked to increased risk of type 2 diabetes, various cardiovascular diseases, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, hormone related cancers, and urinary tract tumors. If you can find a diet pop sweetened with Stevia (a natural sweetener) it's a better choice. Most of the pops you named are sweetened with Aspartame.

That’s an impressive list,,, and extremely helpful,,, I seldom drink pop,, I drink unsweetened tea more than anything else. We don’t realize the crap we eat,, until we realize the crap we eat. I always had the mindset that I was burning it all off,, so I thought I was ok. I’m almost certain I’m not the only person who had the same mindset

Had a routine ultra sound once that found a tumor on a kidney. Family doctor had just lost a dear friend to kidney cancer and began to check more of his patients for this disease. Living just fine on one kidney now.
