Don't overthink it. I've never took the temp of water. Just the same temp you'd make a baby bottle.

My mistake was trying to follow the recipe. When i made it with no thermometer or measyring spoons or cups it came out fine.
I usually just eyeball a recipe.
Bad thing is when people ask me or a recipe i cant give it to them cause i geusstimate everything.
I learned that from.my mamaw and other than this stupid bread recipe im a better than average cook, or at least thats what ive always been told

Thanks Nessie, it's fun ain't it! Also, yes, you are right about grams. If'in ya don't have a old timie recipe from kin, the modern ones are in grams. Proofing baskets, your gettin fancy!
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

I have a gram scale but i dony use it for weighing yeast. I am satiafied with my last batch of bread. It rose and tasted great. All without meqsuring a thing.lol

A lot of times a recipe gets in the way of a good bread. I rarely measure anything either. There just a few things to remember. - Yeast is a living thing.. Too cold it is dormant. Too hot it dies
- Sticky dough needs more flour
- Crumbly dough needs more liquid
- Let the dough rise to size...Not necessarily by a certain amount of time.

An excellent way to sum things up. Good post T-Rex.
