Today I checked my 3 traps out in my main bee yard and was happy to see they were empty and my bee feeders were still in place. Hopefully the trend will continue and I have now removed the varmints responsible between a skunk and a coon.

I think this is the first time I have ever been happy to see empty traps.

Yes I felt that way nearly every day I checked traps to some degree Because I was mostly checking with a flashlight before going to work It was sometimes tricky to remove animals from traps and than remake sets . Areas that where sometimes easy to check in the daylight became harder to see in the dark So when I could see at a distance it as worth setting if I had to walk a good.bit more to see if I had made a catch then it was almost better for it to be empty If I seemed. that I had made great set with a certain animal in mind I would rather have the trap still unfired than holding a kit coon or a fox that had the mange . AND IF i really was catching critters and getting behind on my skinning duties I was just fine with a day or 2 to have no catch on any given morning .But it was always a great problem to have sets paying off even if it was not in your best short term interest

We all want to catch intended animals but we all have those days that life's things come up or need done. Those days we wish for little or no catches

Till that day.....

Yep, many times on nasty weather days, days when I have plans to do stuff after skinning, feeling poor, sick of skinning, already a big pile in the truck, etc... smile

Yes, especially on beaver jobs and I'm hoping to have caught the last one in the colony.

Yes, I was trapping a farm and after 6 days of full or nearly full traps I was so excited we finally had them all/enough to make the farm happy we checked 2 more nights then pulled

I mean it was the best $ we ever made trapping as we were getting paid by the head but I wish I would have set 4x more traps night one and saved he gas

Had an uncle die and had a big line scattered all over, got up at 4 am to run it so id have time that evening for the funeral, ran like a mad man all day and didn't catch a thing! ONLY time in 40 years ive ran that line and not have a single thing! Got to the funeral early.

Lol I have never made money with full traps. Just spent that little bit on more traps and such. Have not Sola a thing In years.

I'm glad to see the empty traps and my feeders undisturbed becuse it means my pest messing with my bee hives have been caught

Yes. I have been so tired, exhausted, and sleep deprived I just didn't have the drive to skin and flesh another coyote.

Yes, years ago when canoeing down the Yakima River, and my canoe was up to the gunnels from the weight of beavers; hoping the few remaining traps were beaver-less.

No money to be made, But sure do like to go out & check traps even if there empty when the weather is this nice. Been seeing a lot of grouse, Witch is great, The numbers have been very low the last ten years. With the truck getting 18 mpg, taking a 22 mile ride is not that bad.

Only when the snares in the fences are empty and the camera shows no coyotes around the sheep pastire.
