The weather is real bad here today-First blizzard of the season. figured i would go check a couple traps I have out for beaver. Pulled up to check and noticed a lg beaver with its guts opened and one back leg eaten.I will salvage the hide and tan it-enough there for a hat. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2022/11/full-21521-156691-dscf5214.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2022/11/full-21521-156692-dscf5212.jpg) Then A lynx jumped up out of the grass and ran by me. I grabbed the chiappa and plugged him with the 22 mag. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2022/11/full-21521-156693-dscf5210.jpg) Nicely furred pale cat, heavy grotzen-York Factory section cat. Total white out conditions here now-the predators will be out in full force hunting tonight.

Was there beaver meat in his stomach? No doubt he has a stomach full,he's hanging in the skinning shed right now. I will let him stiffen up and skin him tomorrow. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2022/11/full-21521-156699-dscf5092.jpg) I took this pic last July in the exact same spot, could be the same cat.

Lucky on the timing to catch him in the act. i would have had a real good chance of catching him if I dropped a #3 beside the half eaten beaver. Cats always come back to a big bait/cache like that.

Would have been more impressive had you fast drawn a six gun and then blew smoke off the barrel after the shot. I only need a single shot, lol.

Good one Boco. Got to be right up there with top surprises on the trapline. Had surprise similar one time but not so good as urs I don't think. Was going back about 15 miles in the country from here on skidoo and realized, for safety purposes, forgot to tell oldest boy where I was gone for the day. About 4 miles out stopped right on the edge of cell range to make the text and before could get cell phone out of pocket noticed a lynx sitting up, on the edge of the trail, about 40' away. Head shot and a good way to start the day. Would have blown right past and never have seen it if had not stopped at that exact time and place.
