I don't get it. How can anyone be a fan of a team.?
It's ever revolving. Changes made every year.
I can (somewhat) see being a "fan" of a person. I do , Clint Eastwood but a team, I just cant fathom it.
There is an outdoors forum based on North Dakota I'm on. It's almost mandatory to bash a Minnesota coming There to hunt/fish but most seem to LOVE our Vikings crazy
So, why do some have an infatuation with a (team)?

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

You have to remember that 1 out of 3 Democratic Voters is just as dumb as the other two.

Probably just the same reason that some people like John Deere, Chevy, or Rugers. Either you find one you like and stick with or you grew up being a fan because your whole family is a fan and you don’t know any different

First you have to be a fan of something I.e. football, baseball, basketball, college affiliation, etc. Then one usually (except for bandwagoners) gets accustomed to a certain team at an early age. Once that happens, it's over, like family....I can make fun of my team, but you better not! Lol. And yes, like said, things tend to be passed down in the family.

You don't have to be a fan any sports organization, especially a sports team that is all about making money off you.

Tradition

You're not pulling for the coach, star player but the team through time.

Of course it helps if your team has over a century of excellence like my Crimson Tide.

Seriously. I thought Georgia was the Bulldogs. They're doing very well though.

I don't understand the sport thing either. I did enjoy the rodeo I took the family to. But At the beginning everyone stood up for the prayer, the flag, and the national anthem.

people are strange....maybe it gives them a feeling of being a 'part' of something. When I was younger I was all in for the jets/knicks/rangers. After I grew up that was the end of that stuff for me.

I don't support any professional teams. I would much prefer to watch my favorite D2 college or my local high school. Both men's and women's teams. They need me support my than a bunch of millionaires.
I don't understand the fantasy football thing. None of my fantasies include a bunch of big, sweaty guys.

Interesting thought. If you replaced the word, "team" with political party, there are many similarities here. Why do people vote the way they do.....tradition, family ties, you grew up in an environment that supported one side or another, etc. A team has many players working together (usually) to accomplish a task just like a political party has many "players" working together to accomplish something. From a broad view, there are lots of parallels with sports and politics. Maybe that's why people get so fired up about sports, teams, and politics?
