I just got through working on three pumps and lawn mower from letting them sit a little too long. My friend has some old cars and will only use Ethanol free gas. I plan to give it a try in my boat and small engines.

In the north ethanol gas is better in winter, like methanol additives it helps prevent gas line freezing due to condensation.Instead of your fuel filter freezing up the ethanol binds to the trace amounts of water and it will run thru the system.

In all small engines - chainsaws, trimmer, blowers, and generators I only use the real gasoline. Same thing for 4 wheeler, side by side and outboard motors. No more dissolved gaskets and fuel lines.

I can get it here but its from 40 to 70 cents a gallon more. That's money well spent if you're using it in a snowmachine, or long term storage in any two or four stroke engine.

Same except the outboard since I do not own one of them. And ethanol free is available at a lot more places now than it was just a few years ago.

Needed some for winter storage.
One place has "racing gas" 101 octane $9.50 per gallon; 110 octane $9.95 per gallon.
I bought 91 octane at Quick Trip for $4.11 per gallon.

I live outside the corn belt. Thankfully non-ethanol gas isn't too hard to find. $3.90 per gallon for 87 octane.

91 octane over here. Way cheaper than rebuilding fuel systems. Also run 2 stroke oil that contains stabilizer. Very debatable among men. Mine is better mentality.

If this stuff was not ethanol free, I would not have posted.

I switched to ethanol free in everything around the house. Lawnmowers, portable welders, ATVs, chainsaws, weedeaters and any other off road low use stuff. When you get tired of repairing/working on the small engines because of what it does to the fuel systems you will change too
Cars are different, does not sit long enough to turn to gel/sludge in their systems I done this, a long time ago!

You get more miles with the better gas so it come out pretty close to even.

I ran nothing but 10% ethanol gas in a Husquvarna 22 inch self-propelled push mower for the 7 or 8 years I owned it (just sold this fall for $20 because of other issues). I never had a problem with the engine but perhaps that was the exception.
