I ware bunny boots in the winter and it does not matter what kind of sock I ware. I wore them in Galena AK and Fairbanks AK and even filled them with water at ten below and kept setting and checking beaver traps for another eight hours. I think the OP needs good boots not a fancy sock.

Agree MJM, boots are WAY more important then socks.
swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

Wool socks dry my feet out so much that they start to crack , bleed , and fall apart .
Maybe it's the dry climate to begin with

MJM & Bucks - I appreciate your very good suggestions. I have very good boots that fit properly and are insulated. I know how to dress to stay warm. The reason for my original inquiry was because ten years ago I bought a large quantity of great socks that fit my big feet, were very cushioned on the bottom, and warm. Having been out of the sock market, I asked my friends here. And again thank you to everyone.

The sizing on socks is crazy. I purchase the 13-15 size for my size 10.
Anything smaller I may as well give them away.
I purchased the socks for people with diabetes, because their not "bango string" tight.

After wearing the Darn Yough socks, I must report that they are excellent. However they are too small for my big feet. I look forward to when the again have XXL. In the meantime I will look at other suggestions. Thanks for the recommendations!
