I have found traps from previous seasons a couple of times and returned them to the name on the tags.

A couple times. The most memorable is hopefully still there. Rolling farm country with smaller pieces of brushy timber mixed in. Out behind an old farm site there are a few big cottonwoods a couple hundred yards away. There is an old #2 size double coil attached to a heavy duty chain that is growing out of one of the trees amongst the cottonwoods. Would guess it’s been there at least 60 years. It’s just a part of the place and needs to stay. A guy probably set that a long time ago thinking it would be a good coon set and then he just forgot one day. That would be a fun ride through the chainsaw.

Caught another in a 330 that had a long spring on one foot. Does that count. Yes, surprising that a beaver can still swim well with a long spring on one foot.

I found a muskrat float set hanging in the branches of a tree over the creek. I'm sure it was washed up there during a flood. There were two rusty victor long springs on the float platform and clamped in one of the traps are two leg bones - I suppose of a muskrat leg.
I have the two traps hanging in my barn - with the bones still clamped in the one.
I still have and use the float platform.
