Post pounder, all barns around here have a few. We used to pound all grape posts by hand when we were young. Tractor and wagon with two guys on the wagon one on each side. Every post got at least one tap as the tractor went slowly down the rows. The reason we did this is because the constant freeze thaw would push the posts up especially on wet ground. I usually used a 16 or 18 pounder. Swing those all day long for a few weeks every year. After the seventies we did everything with hydrolic pounders mounted on the tractor. That 13 pounder would be considered quite light. Made a man out of you quick

Interesting, with no freeze thaw down here I guess explains why I know nothing of post mauls.

My Grandpa had one...called it "The 'Ol Mother in Law Tamer!" Lol...don't hit metal with it, I believe they're cast!

Must have been imported here too as nobody around here knew what it was
