WOW, Gerry had good luck in newly named Thumb pond( formerly known as bear cub pond) Two at 43lbs one at 32lbs, of all the days for him not to have his pack mule.

We worked in the shop this afternoon

Gerry and I have run in to a smart beaver, two nights in a row it has chewed off the sticks that we stabilized the trap with ,right at the top of the conibear spring, first night we used green sticks with no bark , second night dry sticks, the beaver made a mound out of snow, is this sack oil on it.??

The tail from that 77 is 13 inches.

Thought that was blood till I read what you wrote. Have never seen that before myself. I'm sure others have

Newfox1, my son and I had the same orange liquid on a castor mound we made from a beaver we missed. We both were not sure what it was.

Newfox1, I like the name Thumb pond. From the pic, I think I know how it got named.

First check on Saturday.
Sunday's check caught 1 muskrat, 0 beaver.

My little buddy came out to the shop tonight, she wanted to help papa flesh beaver.

Guess I don't know for positive, but I've always thought that orange liquid was urine.
I think my mentor as teen-ager told me that.
A beaver that has a full bladder will run out orange urine on the skinning table.

Just getting started on some beaver nothing big
those 3 weighed in around 20# just the right size
for fleshing.
Pulled my water sets on sunday had some appointments
this week, I can reset towards the weekend.
Had a beaver dam on the creek again this year when I checked
it a few weeks ago part of the dam got washed out but they didn't
fix it so I don't know if they abandoned it or what I'll check
it again see what's going on.
