I want to go back twenty years. Not only would I be healthy, more importantly, I could sit, preferably with a good glass of whiskey and a mellow campfire, and I could chew the fat with good friends that are now dead and gone. I could learn from their accumulated wisdom. I could chuckle with their wit. I could learn from their life lessons. I guess I'm feeling nostalgic. I suppose this is a wake-up call to get in touch with a few old-timers who, unfortunately, ain't gonna be around forever.
This post is not designed to be a downer. Hopefully it'll remind you of a few buds that are gone, and the good times you had.

I often think of those who have gone. A few regrets, too. Never met my dad's parents. Met my mom's parents once when I was 5. No parents or siblings left. Some friends gone. Can't change any of it, though.

Oh how true... 20 years ago day... I would still have 2.5 months until I retired.

In a lot of ways you are better off now than you were 20 years ago. Think.........Miss Lisa compared to Gollum ! I seem to remember that glass of whiskey around the mellow campfire..........chewing the fat with you. Someone ( you I suspect) threw a sleeping bag over my head and I woke up the next day on a snow machine seat in the snow. Just remember that a lot of those " old timers" would like to sit down with you too ! I was sitting in Providence Hospital last week with a needle in my arm talking to a complete stranger. As it turned out she is one of many who admire your experience and accomplishments. As you know Alaska is a small place and everyone knows everyone else. Your name came up among many others. She asked for your email address and I gave it to her. Of course it turned out that we each knew the other but had never met face to face. There are more 'old timers' out there than we know

Goodness, my hands wouldn't let me type all I miss. I think about the old days often. One thing I do miss is hunting season with the old crew. I'm the last of the Mohicans now.
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

I have nothing clever to put here.

Dang! I was thinkin' 20 years ago would have been just fine. Actually, Gollum, the first wife, went away 32 years ago. You got me really wondering who you met in Los Anchorage...

20 years ago, like all of us, I had no clue of what the future would bring. One thing for me is I am still here and creating havoc on the ones I love…lol
On a serious note, longevity can have several consequences. Loss of friends and also memory. The last 20 years the world has changed and it’s up to each of us to accept or reject or just forget!
I love the smell of burning spruce---I love the sound of a spring time goose---I love the feel of 40 below---from my trapline I will never go!

Dang it...20 years ago I was still old. I had just retired and not much has changed with me since then except aging and losing friends who seem to pass away regularly. Now, If I could only go back 50 years, that would be fun.
I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!
