If I use fairly strong fencing wire to put around a tree, will the coyote break it? I plan to double it and twist the wire about 1 foot long, but I'm still not sure is it will hold? Any tips or advice?

I cant hardly stake or anchor it because its in the woods and right by a tree so there's too many roots. I ain't got any drags.

Take your cordless drill and screw the chain to the tree with a big old deck screw or three. Big nails or long fence staples will work too.

Go around the tree with cable or chain.

Maybe pick a little better spot, or use a snare (if legal).

Will that hold a coyote?

If he says it will, it WILL. I just think you need to try and keep things as simple as you can.

You inherited this account from your father or brother, are they no longer around? I would guess if they were on here before you, then they trapped and could probably give you some great advice and hands on experience. I’m guessing that’s where you’re getting the traps from as well. If they aren’t, then my condolences. I think it would just be easier at your age to be shown rather than read and try and comprehend.

Try watching some YouTube videos to see what’s used and how it’s used and emulate what you see.

How do you do it? Do you X them or do you just put them thru the hole in the end swivel?

Nothing special bud. Just put a couple big deck screws threw the swivel and maybe the last chain link too. Use a washer on the screw if the hole in the chain is too big. Screw them all the way in tight, or use some 30 penny nails the same way. Screws will be easier for you remove to pull the trap. 3 1/2"-4" deck screws.

Find you someone close that you can spend time with and watch.
Maybe trade help with chores for time on the trap line

I can learn a heck of a lot more by watching than reading
