I didn’t do any trapping this year and the season is about to close. Less than a month basically. I want to make some sets but I don’t want to take next years seed.
Should I see if I can make a catch or just wait until next season??
I have the itch for sure….but work and family health issues got the best of me!

I will probably put my first sets for k 9 out soon. Need to thin them out som on the farm. I hope to take out next year's seed but if I make a hole it will just be filled with next year's young moving into the open territory.

The animals you catch in november would have been the same ones you catch now. Not hurting anything go trap.

You will be trapping legally and in season. It would only be wrong if you were breaking the law.

Absolutely go nail some coon and grinners , if you have properties near farms you will be doing them a favor and the animals will back fill in no time.

If the habitat is there they will come back even if you take them all now......jk

I don’t understand the “leave some seed” comment I see from a lot on here.
Do y’all literally have so few predators that you really think you could trap them out? That’s been my job since I started trapping. Catch every single predator on a piece of property. Hasn’t happened yet, but I try each year, and that includes Summer time trapping.

Comes from the old days where everyone and their brother trapped and land access was easier. Today it doesnt really apply other than the animals I mentioned. Maybe not so much in the south for beaver and grey fox as they're kinda sporadic here and you can ruin a spot for years.

You aren’t going to put a dent in the population with a few sets out for a month. Doesn’t matter what time of year you catch em, any animals you catch won’t produce offspring the next spring, don’t matter if you caught em in October or February the net result is the same, so get it there and set some traps. Most fur is still good and some is just now getting to its peak
