Added more daily pics... Heavy rain erased yesterday's initial work. 45+ sets turned into mudpies starting about 0800 this morning. That's trapping. Will have to carry dirt with me tomorrow for all those remakes. It has rained all day and is still raining. There were no sets covered with grass clippings on this trapline...unfortunately. Tomorrow is another day!!!!

... had that come through here yesterday... my first thought was “glad I don’t have traps out yet” lol I saw it coming and set ONLY the high spots. That saved a few but this rain was too much. I had already postponed this job for a week and a half due to SxS repairs. ...had to go now. Got another large property to do b4 end of February. Wife ain't real happy as I'm gonna be gone nearly a month from home...but my accommodations here are FANTASTIC!

Enjoy this COLD wind that comes in behind all that flooding! Next week is a total wash out. I got several beaver sites id hoped to finish up this week, have to run like a mad man now to get them drained before the weekend.

When I set a few sets earlier this year I found a pile of sawdust where they had chipped the pines. I sifted an entire 50lb bad of saw dust. I also sifted a 50lb bag of good dirt. I’ve used that sawdust around clearcut/thinned areas on this property with success after a drenching rain. I’ve found if you do a big enough area it really doesn’t stand out like one would think. And don’t do it in a circle. The good dry dirt has come in handy as well. It just sucks having to do it every few days, lol. We can’t just get a soaking rain, we get the inch in a half hour kind that flows and washes out. I’m sure my one conibear that started out at waters edge, then half submerged after the last rain, will be completely covered when I check tomorrow. Thought for sure things would be moving after this rain ended, but so far no activity on the cameras. Good luck tomorrow morning. Look forward to following along since Steeltraps took a break, lol.
When you head to these properties are you tasked with certain predators or they want anything with 4 legs other than a deer gone?

And the $$ has increased as these folk's neighbor now wants me to trap there too. I have enough gear to do it. But it won't be a full job...it'll be about 8 or 9 nights.

Primary targets are coons (eating more high $$ deer feed than the deer) and coyotes, but any nest and/or fawn predator is disliked.

What make and model is your Honda swamp? I’m seriously considering a Honda next buggy 2018 Honda Pioneer 700-2. The -2 means it is for 2 people. No rear seat.
