I'm in the market for a new printer for my computer. Any suggestions on a basic printer? My computer is an HP.
The ones I've researched are set up by wi-fi on your smart phone. Don't want to go that route.
I just want to push buttons to set it up and not have to go through phone. As Phil Robertson once said,
"I'm a low tech guy in a high tech world."

the cheaper the printer the higher the ink refills... about all I know. If you just need it to print out your taxes or a few papers now and again, a cheaper printer is for you. Just go to WalMart and pick out a cheap inkjet printer. You don't have to have a phone to set them up.

We have an epson, cheap but it prints labels and documents just fine.

No problems with my Epson eco tank so far. HP printers are from the devil.

laser is nice , they are not too expensive

USB is the easiest way to hook up to them now
I had wifi and network and I had to futz with it to much , to make it simple if the wife wants to print something now set laptop next to printer plug in cable wait a minute and print , it was handy when she would just print from the couch but that lasted about 3 years and got flaky

if they have wifi or what not usually just plugging in the USB and it works

shop the amazon price for the toner it uses , my first laser printer cost less than the factory toner cartridge about 100 dollars , I bought the amazon refilled cartridge for 20 dollars and I was good for about 7-8 years

When I need something Printed I have my wife do it since she was an English Major!!!

We had a Canon laser printer that operated flawlessly for years and years. It outlasted numerous computers. Finally had to scrap it while still working perfectly because eventually there were no print drivers available for it with the new operating systems. If what you need is just B&W text, laser is a good way to go.

I have an HP Deskjet 3634. I've had it for 10 years now.. Gone through a couple of boxes of paper.

The ink is HP63 cartridges. I usually try to get the 63xl. They last longer. Simple enough to use.

I don't remember what it cost. I'll try to recall.

Most of the HP Deskjets are about $60 -70 dollars with good reviews.

I have been fighting with HP 3700 series most of the afternoon. It seems to have a mind of its own. It probably knows more than me. Just figuring out , what I owe Trudope. old 243

I have to delete and reinstall my parents Hp6978 almost everytime they need to print something. Right now if refuses to print color no matter what I do.

Just got Popular Mechanics today. Recommended the Brother for $300. Prints and scans. Color.

The best printer is the printer at work. Costs nothing and you get paid to print your own stuff.

Careful with that. A lot of companies now have printers/copying machines that save images of everything printed/copied/scanned. These images can then be reviewed and it can used against you for theft or other types of actions. Companies have been doing for a while to protect their trade secrets.

Hospital I used to work for had a slogan, "One team, one dream, one (company name)". We switched out all our printers to a new company, the new system charged the company for each page printed as they provided the printers and toner/ink. The new joke was "One team, one dream, one printer!". Even your home printers can tell you how many pages you've printed, apparently regardless of how many times you've deleted the stupid thing, or the times it deleted itself! Printers are the devil.

Just bought a brother laser printer. I plug it into my computer and print what I want. It scans, copies and prints. Can also set up for wireless but I don't have that option here.
