Okay it’s a little too hot for my liking and the flies have noticed my activities. Fox had thawed and I finished skinning, rough skinning that is. Left the paws in to finish later but I had to get rid of the body. I dumped a bunch of salt on it and I’m considering wrapping up and re freezing for a later date. Is that okay to do? This is not a warm weather project!!!!!!!! sick

I'd be getting rid of that little rascal. Unless he was drawing a gov check and you want to keep him alive so you can keep drawing his checks. If you are putting him in a freezer that has your food in it every package is going to stink on the outside at least. Shovel in your rose garden.

Oh, I may have mistaken what you was going to do with the carcass, sorry. As for the hide others on here know better than I.

He has caused me much grief! Lol was planning to mount it. Skinning went real well I just can’t do anything else in this heat with the flies coming

You mean salt the rough skinned hide and freeze? My late caught beaver are just rough skinned, folded in half skin to skin, rolled and put in a little plastic garbage bag. 2 per bag with a zip tie through the nose. I hang ‘em up in the morning to thaw and flesh when fully unrolled. I’ll do the fleshing next fall.

Correct. I was just gonna dry salt him and send for taxidermy tan at moyle but I have to skin the feet out.
I guess I can wash him in dawn and baking soda to get a little of the smell off him and get the salt out and then roll him up and freeze him. There isn’t hair slippage yet.
What a mess!

I’m determined. Had to get away from him for a minute but I’m gonna skin out those feet tonight! After this quad ride and a few beers
