I've got to agree with Swamp and Pawnee both. That'll catch because I've caught with 'neat' looking setslike that. To Pawnee's point, go find where a dog has dug. The area is going to look disturbed like his pics show. Notice the backing that Pawnee has in his second pic on the right behind the hole. Ain't gotta be much.
Ok I thought it has to be "neat" because they would be scared! Guess it does make sense though I will definitely be doing that!

Looks good and glad to see you doing something to improve your trapping skills. One thing not mentioned yet, is in the 4th pic down, some of those dirt clods are bigger than I'd like to have in the trap bed. True, usually dirt clods when caught between the jaws would just crumble, but I've actually had dirt clods caught in the corners of the jaws prevent the jaws from closing all the way. And with clods as big as some of those you could even have a small stone inside one and not know it. Probably not a big deal overall, just one thing I noticed that would bug me if it was my own set, lol. Everything else looks great.
Blending a trap in to bare dirt is relatively easy. Next you should try blending them into different areas... woods, grassy field, sod, etc. Thanks definitely will do in the woods tomorrow!

Practice bedding your trap. You want to dig the smallest bed possible. Forget digging dirt holes and blending right now, practice bedding your trap. Over and over and over. This will speed you up exponentially. You can tell a lot about the level of experience of a trapper giving a demo by how long it takes them to bed their trap
Gotta live up to the nickname...

Lever placement, as mentioned above, is important. I have a good dvd for canine trapping that goes over it. I will send you a pic when I’m off work cause I can’t remember the trappers name. But it is two discs long and very thorough. Ok

The main thing is to learn good K9 set locations......crop change areas, field edges, woods roads intersections, farm road gaps/gates/entrances, anywhere you see target critters tracks and scat.

Do some more reading on how to position the trap correctly...grasshopper.

I have had a lot of tight chains with a set like that.Just make sure that sucker don't have any wobble when you bed it and you will be fine. X2.Alot of people over complicate it.Keep it simple like that.
