Are you referring to an overdraw? If so, yes. Those were the shiznit back in the early 90s. Just about every compound archer had a bow with an overdraw. It allowed for shorter (and lighter) arrows...which translated to faster speeds...which meant flatter trajectories (less critical range guess-timation) at 3D target and typical hunting ranges. This was before handheld laser rangefinders became readily available/affordable and we all launched aluminum arrows of various diameters depending on draw weight.

The overdraws came in various lengths and were usually built by the bow manufacturers to custom fit their bows only, but there were some aftermarket, too. Most allowed the rest to be 3" to 4" behind the riser (and your bow hand/wrist). So, if you're draw length required a 29" arrow....you could shoot a 25" lighter arrow...... for speed, speed, speed! But, arrow lengths shorter than 24" or 25" were dangerous and hit that diminished returns area. Plus, if the arrow happened to fall off the rest before you released that string...the arrow tip could go into/thru your hand or wrist as it was beginning its launch from behind your hand...not a good thing! Not many of us cared about the danger...we just wanted that extra speed and easier accuracy.

The bow breaking in half that I described above was with a bow with an overdraw. I was lucky that the arrow launched from the rest a little and fell to the ground, but that machined aluminum overdraw bit hard into the top of my left wrist. Not fun!

Don't know why you guys and gals still respond to the boy child, it's always a crap show, unless you just like to watch for entertainment....

I am shooting a PSE Decree at 60lbs. and 29 inch draw. With the newer bows now there isn't a need to shoot 70lbs.

Cheap entertainment. It is great fun watching him change his story over and over. It isn’t nearly as much fun since he got put on posting restrictions. 3 per day isn’t really enough to keep me entertained.h

Some of us have a side bet going on, on who’s created a fake account pretending to be an orangutan armed 13yr old boy with more money than all us combined. He’s gone from buying UTV’s to hundreds of coon traps to K9 traps to not knowing anything and then giving his expert opinions on trapping critters he’s never caught!
You have to give credit to whoever it is that they’ve about run the gauntlet on topics.

NTO - These gents are paving the path for your success. Not sure if you have a PM mandate or not, but look at the member's post number and PM the question(s) that you would have started a thread with or the answer(s) you would respond with and let them coach you up on whether or not it's valid.

Again, shoot for PM'ing only those with high post counts.

Well between the very blurred lines there has actually been some good bow talk in here. What do you fellas prefer for a release? Back tension style or index finger trigger style?

I have shot the index finger release for the last 15 years or so but I've been wanting to try out other styles.

Gotta live up to the nickname...

Good question!! I’ve shot a finger release ever since I started hunting with a bow. Been wanting to try a different style, but sometimes wonder if you can teach an old dog new tricks, lol. I’d assume I’d have to find a new release hold and point and that sorta scares me.

At 13 he ain't pulling 60 pounds and draw length ain't 28 inch either.I had a bow shop for 10 years and built arrows for 20 years. No 13 year old I ran into shot 28 inches let alone 60pounds. There's something about getting that cam to roll over.

Thumb trigger is the best according to my bro. I've only used index finger trigger.
