Like always doesn't matter the whole country is struggling and those in devastated area's are in need of EVERYTHING! Union thugs 'deserve' a 'living wage'. Won't ever forget hearing those words from the GM worker's, why i won't ever buy a thing made by a union thug again long as i live.
Fire every dock worker and hire some actual workers that want to work, problem solved! Holding the whole country hostage is an act of terrorism!

I got the big guns and a list of who said they were stocked up..... I built most of the store rooms and fall out shelters in w wa and in Tennessee for the y2k people for this reason. The even had me put the gold and silver in the ground and spread acres of steel shot

One off the places sold after the death of the owner. They called me to see if we could excavate and remove the big burm. I said yes if I could keep everything except the fill dirt.
That mega shelter went to Oregon to be reinstalled. The buckets went to my house
I know of a trap supply guy in Tacoma WA that died sometime ago. If his home ever comes on the market again,,,, It will pay for itself in goods retrieval

I used to mess them people. Cell towers were going up everywhere..... I would text them a video of a guided missile strike and say " did you see the new military tower going up on the hill"
Next it was EMP

First time I've heard of a union demanding a guarantee against automation in a contract. Companies would be insane to give em that. Let em walk around with their signs while robots get installed. It's the future in a lot of companies. There's no lazy machines. They've fought it before. Ought to replace them with the illegal aliens their union dues are encouraging and supporting.

If Covid didn’t make people realize we outsource way too much in this country, this thing should. Hopefully stretching their neck out with such demands will motivate folks to start making stuff here. Should they be successful in this attempted extortion, the cost of shipping goods won’t make them cheap anymore. Americans should be able to compete making stuff here. Hope the strike lasts at least that long

I was reading something about this and it's origin
since 2020 the cost of shipping has gone up something like 300% they see the port charging that much more so they want a raise to get their peice of the pie
I can't say I blame them for wanting a raise
not sure when their last contract started but say it was January of 2020 they have seen around 30% inflation and if they figure it keeps going asking for 77% over 5 years knowing that it will be countered and they might actually see 45% , hard to blame someone for not wanting to work for less than the year before because they make 3% more each year and inflation is 7-9% more a year

here is a way I like to figure things , I have an employee who does some essential task I want them to live within 20 minutes of work , I think of this as a town/city so why wouldn't I want the employee to live in the same town/city they serve.
so I go house shopping on mls I want a decent little 3 bed 2 bath house nothing fancy but a place you can raise a family.
say that house is 200K divide by 3 that should be the salary of someone doing an essential task so that he can afford to live where he/she is providing this essential service . 66K when they get past 5 years and take on training rolls and such they need some more so that they don't up and leave to a municipality that pays a bunch more. we ran into that cities and counties within driving distance started offering more money and buying out employees right out from us
that is my formula , it is simple but it gets you looking in the right place to get started with reasonable.
so now what is the price of a 3 bed 2 bath basic house within 20 minutes of the port?
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Believe they were OFFERED 50% and refused. Fire and replace. "Employer Actions During a Strike Employers cannot fire striking workers solely for participating in a lawful strike. However, employers can: Hire permanent replacement workers to fill the positions of striking workers (although this may be subject to collective bargaining agreements). Implement a lockout, temporarily withholding employment or denying work to union members during a labor dispute, if the union refuses to meet the employer’s conditions."

We have become a country of people who care only of themselves and how much they can accumulate personally. They care nothing about anyone else. We need to figure out how Sr Citizens can go on strike and cripple the country.

Gary I won't see social security. The only benefit I will ever see from the money they Steel from me evert week is that my mother and father are getting their benefits.as of September 27th $6,945 27 In money paid in so far this year I will never see a dime of. if put in a Roth like account my life time I would actually have been way better off.
I'm not planning on receiving SS and saving and investing so I won't need it. But they still still from me every week. You'll see social security.

I heard that these clowns average $ 81,000 a year and with overtime they can reach $ 200,000. I'd fire the entire lot and replace them with real patriots. Maybe I'll head out there and take a job if they strike. I'll take that money and you will all get your toilet paper. Lol

If u do it will be a very reduced amount and long after I retire. Our country is broke spending more than they have it won't last it's unsustainable. Have you seen some fo the proposals they are floating ro shore it up? Like if your wealthy you won't be eligible to receive funds. OK so who and what will be considered wealthy? Save and invest your entire life live below your means to do so and pay in the max a year into ss just under the point they quit taking it out of your check and nope none for you or here I'd your 20% of what you were slated to get and you can't get anything tell your 75 if they raise the age again. so what's considered wealthy having 900k 1 million 2 mill 15 mill? Will that be net worth or money invested/ in the bank. Don't worry they will collapse markets and country with the things like raising capital gains and the unrealized capital gains crap . When people pull out of the US markets and stop investing becues ther is no point the country will fail.

In NE, Soc Sec says if you get $1200 a month you're good enough. If you work to make more, they reduce your SS. Who here makes it on $1200 a month?

"We use the following earnings limits to reduce your benefits: If you are under full retirement age for the entire year, we deduct $1 from your benefit payments for every $2 you earn above the annual limit. For 2024 that limit is $22,320. In the year you reach full retirement age, we deduct $1 in benefits for every $3 you earn above a different limit, but we only count earnings before the month you reach your full retirement age." 1200 a month before taxes would barely pay the insurance and tax man.

It's not what you make income wise as much as what your priorities are and how disciplined you are with it.

not sure when their last contract started but say it was January of 2020 they have seen around 30% inflation and if they figure it keeps going asking for 77% over 5 years knowing that it will be countered and they might actually see 45% , hard to blame someone for not wanting to work for less than the year before because they make 3% more each year and inflation is 7-9% more a year re: inflation: they should look in the mirror for the blame...they supported Biden and his reckless spending.

SS pays out 1.5 trillion annually to people over 65 yrs old. How badly would Washington like to not have to pay that.

Well now are you short sighted. Trump, Obama, and Bush were all spend thrifts each spending more than the last. Sure Biden got us in this hole in the last 3 years all by himself. Your very limited and small minded in your thinking.
