A friend caught 2 nutria last year in conibears on crossovers for otters. There aren't supposed to be any nutria here but he caught 2.

I run a few cages every year for coon and cats. They have a place on my line for sure, right tool for the right location and conditions.
Many times I’ve been glad I had cages set along with all of my other sets, sometimes cages are what saved the day for my daily catch rate.

As far as nutria don’t you just open the door? I thought they just ran in. 5 in one cage is the most I have caught at once. Nine was the total that day at that stop.

I believe they are yours. Dead Coyote talked me into buying them years ago. They were expensive and I was skeptical but they have been worth their weight in gold. The set of 3 that nests together are great although the biggest one is by far my favorite. I have turned a lot of kittens and females loose from them along with Fisher that were out of season.

In my experience nutria best trapped with blind sets. If you are asking how to keep beaver out while targeting nutes, that is tough. A swimthrough in the water is deadly on both but you can set dryland trails for nutes and miss most beaver. The beaver caught you can turn loose if you wish.

I have caught a few greys in cages but never a red or a coyote. Nice work!

Nutria are stoopid. Just set the trap on a trail or crossover and they will find there way inside.
