Black agouti from Rio Napo, Ecuador where I was stationed.

Lowland paca or what we called "guanta" in Ecuador. These guys weighed up to 20 lbs and were delicious. The meat in the marketplace sold for triple what beef did. It has a fatty rind like pigs. Absolutely delicious.
On a return trip to Ecuador around 1990 I brought three 220's that I gave to some Indian friends of mine. You should have seen the delight in their faces when I showed them how a 220 works!

Thanks Carl. I would like to try those. I bet they taste great.

Are agouti and paca farmed in Central and South America?

220s would be incredibly useful in a jungle.

Your mail box is full and it says our older conversations hit the limit to continue.

I heard that pacas were being farmed in Brazil. Not in Ecuador though, at least not when I was there.

Thanks for letting me know about my mailbox.
